Your roommate wants you Matty. She is obviously fearful because of how you are perceived (aloof, awkward, shy, distant, asshole’ish, reserved, superior) that you will not like her in the same way. You being totally closeted emotionally won’t recognize that she likes you and therefore will never make the move to make it happen and ultimately that is a mistake.

I am not seen as aloof, awkward, shy, distant, reserved or superior Wally. Wally that was the old me (minus the superior part... Wally I bully some of you cause you are intellectually lazy and, by the same token, are smarter than you think. This is impossible to respect.) The new me is seen as perfectly normal with slight asshole-ish tendencies when drunk. :biglaugh: Wally I told my life story to that girl so she wouldn't have bad surprises later on. Wally I didn't come to Toronto by choice. She knows all about me and knows that I like her.

My roommate is fearful because that's what she is. Her sister stayed with us last weekend and I was shocked to see my roomie mumble to her own sister in the very same way that she does with me. The sis says that she had years of practice to decrypt roomiespeak.

Y'all don't seem to get that hitting the roommate foks up any other possible relationship. I can't believe I'm saying that but I don't want a girlfriend right now.

Matty, you have to do what is best for you and I am certainly not telling you what to do, just trying to help you see what is really going on. Sure, like Kato said I need to get laid myself. I don't have a shitload of personal experience with dozens of women but I have paid attention, learned, observed and been "that friend" for my entire life so there is some knowledge from which I speak.

We did this morning MrMonkey. It's somewhere earlier in the thread. She gave me a fancy bottle opener that sticks to the fridge with big-ass magnets. She said:

In this case then you have to get chunky chick back over and rail her a good one. If the roommate sees you being overly picky it can manifest in her mind as you're not really looking cause you really want her and can get pretty messy later on.
 
I coached her son in football and we became friends. She was a cop but also a single mother of 3 and things were tight. I was leasing a house with a friend who decided to up and leave and I still had 8 months on the lease so I let her move in with me rent free so she could save up for a down payment on a place of her own.

Obviously it was me being more than just a nice guy I was pretty crazy about the woman and naturally the kids.

When the lease was up she had saved almost enough money and I had a little over $6000 that I added to it so she could get a place of her own. A year later I was videoing her wedding. I think you could hear the sniffles in the audio probably.

I was 25 and stupid. I would go on to more stupid things in life and there would be more money wasted on women but never again would I invest so much of me into something with no return value.
