Pretty decent from what I saw! One play in particular was guy on 1b and ground ball to him made it routine going to 2b and back to him for DP! Howard has struggled with that for years just stepping on 1b for one out cause of fear throwing the ball in LF! Like riding a bike the guy has played there most of his career other than DH!

By the numbers:
Wigginton Games started 215 out of roughly 1100 at 1B! Dropped throw in Pitt game IMO cost them the game!

Nix 10 out of roughly 800 at 1B! Guy almost cost them a game with booted routine ground ball to start the 9th!

Mayberry 13 out of 105! Most athletic but one play in particular was nobody on base and guy bunting for hit he wrongly came in to try to field ball and nobody covered first for the throw! Not being a SacBunt attempt situation he should know the 2b won't be there for the throw! 13 games ain't much experience!

Right now the problem I don't think is Thome's glove but he just hasn't hit yet! Of course the buzz is he has lost bat speed? :dunno:
Same buzz bout Polanco with bat speed and he's washed up! I don't buy this one since he hit bout .400 in spring training!
 
Was expecting 8-8 and not 7-9 by end of Sunday!

Batting .157 RISP and only 7 xtra base hits in last 6 games! Pence 0 for last 16 and Rollins not much better! Entire team but Pierre not showing up at the plate! After watching Thome at the plate today maybe is he is finished? Still pitching should keep them right there but TIMELY hitting has to get to at least just average and not bottom of the barrel like presently!
 
The Braves are not doing bad with Hudson on DL.

I think the Phillies will have to make a move for a 2B and a 1B else more of their starting pitchers will land on DL if they keep pitching 9 innings because they can't hit to give them a lead.
 
End of April update:

Not bad at 11-12 and I'll take it! Not far behind in the division! Thing is played lots of bad clubs! Key couple series starting tonight at the best 2 teams to play so far in the Braves and Nats! Might really show if they can hang in there without Howard! Not mentioning Utley cause what he has appears to have only gets worse by playing!

Pierre, Wigginton, Nix, and Ruiz only guys above .300 OBP! Some of the vets on this team should observe the new guys approach at the plate! Guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks applies!

Got through month of which at point in game last Friday announcer stated Rollins, Pence, Victorino (3, 4, 5) were 8 for their last 91 ABs! Wow! Big boast in Worley continuing his success from 2011 and Blanton surprisingly pitching well!

Thome might have to voluntarily retire? Nix and Wiggs good at 1B and when Utley and Howard come back, who goes? Mayberry has been a complete zero since the first day of spring training! Possibly only a half-year wonder in 2011?

13 field guys on 25 man right now! Won't go IMO to 11 man pitch so thinking Mayberry gets sent down and Thome??? Maybe Pete Orr but guy has been decent so far! Still plenty of time to hopefully see Thome start producing!
 
So a 3-3 record against the Braves and Nats ........... next 14 out of 16 at home so hopefully get out of the cellar in the NL East!

Howard no further word on but Utley will be in Clearwater by weekend playing games and if 2011 any indication of timetable from that my guess is should be in lineup by Memorial Day! Galvis as good as he is with glove can't have him in lineup hitting .200 or below!
 
Utley not even down in Clearwater yet! Guy must be done? Howard only one I'm counting on to contribute!

4 for their last 31 with RISP was the stat! 0-16 when trailing in the 7th inn (and not down by many runs either for the most part) Complete zero getting a hit when needed. Still not in that bad of shape!
 
End of May update:

Went 16-13 which ain't bad and in last place but only 3 games back! Key next couple series against the Marlins and Dodgers! Really giving up on counting on Utley giving us anything at all! Galvis unreal in the field! Do need Howard back though with some kind of production! Now looking at July 1st but if Phils can hang in there should be any teams East title to win except the Mets!

This really could be Manual's year of showing he can do a Tony LaRussa managerial style and piece together a mix/match 1-8 lineup! Locals always complained that he had a set 1-8 lineup to punch in all those years! The guy IMO is doing better as the year goes on in pushing the right buttons to even be where they are now!

Surprising stat: Cliff Lee has 0 wins!

Nice but supposedly he won't be in the field anymore! WTF? Unless he keeps hitting for the remainder of the 9 DH games he should just retire? Lance Nix will be coming off the DL soon as a LH power bat who can at least play the field also!

The guy is pitching for the Norfolk Tides (Oriole AAA), might be pitching today even? The guy just won't give up!

Honestly thought this guy knew the score and liked him lots until as a Phillie he did that informal dugout press conference bout it being unfair that he was demoted to the bullpen! Dude, you had the 2nd worst ERA as a starter in the NL!
 
This is when you know it is going bad! Now you get updates on the radio sports news on Utley where they say he went from playing 1 inning at 2B to advancing to 5 in the field! Also Howard hitting couple HRs in what is termed "extended spring training game" but he never ran the bases! Supposedly he advanced from yesterday's update to running the bases after the game! LoL!

Lee still 0 wins! Nada! Sat's loss probably the most demoralizing for me yet this year! 3-11 last 14 and easily could have 11-3! Seriously! Maybe into more this year cause can't just wait for the playoffs to begin! Kind of fun in a sadistic way following them! Nothing going the Phils way but that's life!

The extra WC is there only chance but only 5 or so games out of it! Who knows, been 4-5 out of it a few previous years in August and Sept! Need IMO for Rollins and Victorino to really start hitting!

PS Archie, no locals here complaining anymore bout Howard getting 25 mil a year! People now understand the presence of fear he creates just being penciled in the lineup that helps everyone else out! :grin:

PSS By the way, Utley by a rule has to be in the lineup by July 2!

PSSS Numbers that give me hope! In games tied in the 8th inning, 1-9 record! 2-7 extra inning record! Horrible 1 run game record! Law of averages have to even out! :hides:
