HanRam triples, but the billionaire owner saves money.

LOL

He was getting $15 million a year for 2 years to OPS .750 and kick routine ground balls with the Marlins

I don't give a fuck if he bats .400 the rest of the season

He wasn't doing it in Miami

What he was doing was punching circular fans in the locker room, cutting his hand and then not finishing his course of antibiotics and subsequentily getting an infection

At least they still have Heath Bell at 9M per for two more seasons.

My vote for worst trade maybe ever. Declining K/9, fatter, older and at an overrated position. Let's throw 27 million at him.

If they trade Logan Morrison and Heath Bell before the deadline it would be my 3rd favorite season in Marlins history.

Hanley Ramirez is despised in Miami.

If the Rangers want to give up Olt and Martin for Josh Johnson I would make that trade. Johnson is talented and I wouldn't celebrate him leaving but he lands on the DL for an extended period of time every year. If they wanted to throw in Alfaro, icing on the cake.

That may end up a bidding war with the Angels, one getting JJ and the other getting C Lee.

ARam, Kendall(?), Schmidt(?),J Guillen,F Sanchez, Gorzelanny off the top of my head. Some of these were traded before their walk season. When you continually let your better players go,who wants to play on Pittsburgh? To blame it on the fans is bushleague, fans dont pay for crap products.

Aram- ten years ago... Pirates were forced to drop 6 million or something from their payroll to honor MLB debt repay back... Benson was gonna get unloaded. 4 days before Deadline he complained of soreness and got DL-ed thus not elligble for trade.

Schimdt- 11 years ago dude really? (interestingly enough the Pirates go Ryan Vogelsong in return!!!!!!! couldn't develop him as good as Japan did though)

kendall? you'd want him on your team for 10 million per year OPS-ING .666, .709, .542, .651, .636 ?????? c'mon

Guillen? 13 years ago dude!!!!! he bounced around for 4 more years till he had some success, but he was a clubhouse cancer that everyone traded year after year even when he played ok... career ops of .761

Sanchez?????? are you nuts? would you want Sanchez starting at 2nd at his high salary or Neil Walker at the MLB minimum? Sanchez has more dl stints then HR's since the trade.. and prob OPS-ed under .700

Gorzelanny ??? did you love him with the cubs with his 5-ish ERA??? thanks for Josh harrison for him though, we love him as a utility spark plug gamer making the MLB minimum!!!! lol

c'mon FW tell me you can do better...at least pick deadline dumps that were within 10 years if you can't stay within the current GM regime!!!

and don't just pick guys that got paid a shit ton THAT SUCKED TOO!!!!

its like you were arguing FOR MY VIEWPOINT!!!

don't forget Nady, Jack Wilson, Ian Snell, Bay, Nyger Morgan, Brian Giles, Nate McClouth,

I just did it off the top of my head. Point being how would an organization identify talent when they let everyone go all the time? The only team i've seen win this way is the Marlins. Ownership don't care, why should the fans?

well the top of your head is stuck in the Y2K era... do some "research" and get back to me with guys in the last 5-10 years

the top of your head is also failing to realize that the pirates have NOT "let anyone go" that was valuable

beyond being a name that you recognize from sportscenter!

in fact they got rid of a tremendously long list of "stars" that were due ALOT of $ and coincidently sucked almost immediately after getting traded!

I'm only asking you to come up with 3 guys the pirates traded as a salary dump near the trading deadline since 2004 that became great players? or who even became just "better" players after they got to their new team...

The Pirates traded ARam during the offseason right before his walk year. He is still playing. Are you suggesting they couldn't build a lineup around him? If the Pirates made the franchise more attractive, players would go there. One sure-fire way not to is by not signing your 1st round draft pick this year. Is Pittsburgh trying to add talent or meet a budget? They remind me of the fantasy football auction owner who has a roster-full ofmin salary players and they give $5 ofvalue for $1, then brag about it. They need more studs so they better pony-up.

If they were very good players on Pitt(like Sanchez or Snell), what difference is it when they are on another team and flame-out? If they are getting "servicable"players back, that doesn't make them a better team.

That's quite a bit different than the Marlins situation currently though. Most of their problems right now didn't come from their farm system. They came from free agency and acquisitions.

I explained they traded him at the deadline due to MLB forcing them to... they didn't want to..

it wasn't off-season do your research, (if the top of your head thought so, you should shut it up, cuz I clearly said list some trade deadline salary dumps it was 2003 cubs got lofton andaram, Pirates got bobby hill and jose K

FW

would you sign this Appel piece of shit, knowing you'd lose your 2013 first round pick and get taxed by mlb for it?

MLB shut down the Pirates and other teams that were OVER-spending in recent drafts with these stupid rules...

again do research and see who spent the most in the 2010 and 2011 drafts

now the Pirates get 3 first round picks in 2013!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED not signing him

FW I'm very glad we don't have a guy like you running the pirates

interesting point actually as many of the players the pirates dump Didn't come from farm system but from trades.... trades the average fan doesn't recognize or remember... because at the time, well they were no name young guys..

Freddy Sanchez-bosox trade
Jack Wilson-cardinals trade
Brian Giles- Indians Trade
Jason Bay-San Diego trade (for Brian giles!!!!!!!!)
Xavier Nady- another San Diego trade
ect. ect

I saw one source that the ARam trade was in the winter and another that was July so I'm sorry.

About Appel - how did the top five sign their draft picks but Pitt can't? You can thank the White Sox for the dumb new rules. They spend the least on the draftpicksand was worried about Theo and the Cubs. Whatever the White Sox want, Selig accommodates. Why would you want three 1st rounders next year when you are getting close now? If they can't pay 1 1st rounder now, how will they pay 3 next year?

Ahh. True. But they were traded as prospects. Very much different than high-dollar contracts.
