Random thoughts

Seriously, why would a doctor's office have a magazine about wine as its main reading material. Hell I'm an alcoholic and even when I was drinking, I wouldn't have looked at that.

I understand there are a few people who would be interested but I get back to the concept of undue focus on obscure subjects.

Like why not have a bunch of magazines about pliers?

The big question that crossed my mind was, okay, so pick one. You can't just sit there. Either take a wine magazine or a parenting magazine.

What's it gonna be?

I decided the parenting magazine would be my preference but ultimately did decide to just sit there with my face hanging out.

Apart from observing the freaks, I played the little mental game I always play when I am trying to get to sleep. I don't mind that game.

It's good to be able to somewhat entertain yourself with nothing but your thinking.

Sadly you are wrong as a lot of people disagree on what to do with these people. Same with those scumbag kids in Chicago that killed the 62-YO and put it on FB.

figured you would say that. THE EXTREMELY VAST MAJORITY agrees SOMETHING besides letting them roam in society needs to be done. its not like canada doesnt detain fucking violent criminals. come on.

I would compare Canada more closely to, I dunno, Norway, Sweden, UK, Czech. I think the US is a great country in its way but I'm trying to think of who I would compare it to, national-personality-wise. Having trouble coming up with someone. Definitely not Canada.

Maybe that's your comparison, but what I have seen is that Canadian/America tourists are one in the same. People in Europe can't tell the difference unless you have a Leaf/Roots logo on your backpack. Never heard of a Canadian tourist being asked if they were one of the countries you mentioned.

Muddy should have said IMO before or after his post.....

apples and oranges. you are taking people/tourists Muddy is talking the tangible and non tangible ways that the counties' respective jibs are cut...

I agree with Muddy, the culture and customs and way day to day life and rhythms seem to feel from my visits to Canada are much different.

I remember a snippet of that fatso Michael Moore's one film about guns where the difference in the attitudes and behaviors between people in Detroit and the People in Windsor belies a thousands of miles apart feeling rather than the 10 KM distance.

Not that I believe propaganda documentaries are gospel truth like Wally does or anything......

just typing...

:clueless: I don't see where I stated something as fact that was just an opinion. I'm usually pretty good about that and certainly the last bit Blitty quoted was all about I think and I would compare.

But if I did that somewhere earlier, mea culpa.

Yes, again, I agree there are superficial similarities which include language, accent etc. I would not expect to be mistaken for Czech by someone who just heard me speak for the first time.

I was talking about deeper issues of behavior/values/beliefs.

I've always viewed Canadians as thinking they were superior. This holds especially true on the various forums I've been associated with, the Canadian members just always come off as smug.

I guess if I had to label in a word most Americans it would have to be entitled.

Yep that's what I will go with.

Canada-elitist
Americans-entitled

effective racism=elite in my book

and so if they ARE elite I guess its cool for them to be act like elitists....its only natural

and until, I meet some online message board non people buddies from the US with coke can cokes, jeopardy brains, and that have banged 200 cuban teens.....

I agree that Canada wins

Canadians always remind me of Minnesota and Wisconsin residents.

Slow talking, generally (outwardly) nice people.

Pretty hard to generalize an entire nation whether it's here or there. People from New York City are a bit different than people in Minot, North Dakota. I'm sure there are quite a few differences between people from different parts of Canada as well.
