Random thoughts

I'm probably the only one but, I think muscle twitches feel cool.

I was listening to a Radio Lab....no, it was a BBC documentary about how the brain works. One sections was about this lady who had her arm amputated in an accident twenty years prior to the interview. She didn't just have phantom limb syndrome, her brain didn't ever register that the arm was gone. She said that sometimes, while sewing the non existent arm would try to help with the sewing and it would really mess with her. Sometimes it would just do things on it's own and "embarrass her". One of the examples she gave was, when she was walking down the street and saw someone she knew, the phantom arm shot up in the air and started waving excitedly to get the person's attention.

Trying to wrap my mind around this. It is an interesting topic no doubt but the specifics have me scratching my head. I suppose my main question is, how is it embarrassing when a phantom arm waves around? Wouldn't that mean she actually did nothing at all?

Gamelive nephew #1 is adorable and looks to be having random thoughts already. Finger in the mouth is the classic sign of the thinking position.

Definitely a high level of random thoughts going on already with the tyke.

Why the aquatic theme in my sleepwear? I have never been in or even near the sea. What's the connection? And what is going on with this MrMonkey guy?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I was listening to it. It seems like if one part of your brain was confused about a missing limb, another part could know what's going on and ignore it and/or put up with it. Embarrassment after that long of a time seemed to be more telling of some other issue rather than brain malfunction.

It's a four part series. You can download it here if you want. I really enjoyed it.

Childhood memory.

When a kid was caught picking their nose - especially if they thought they were being secretive about it - protocol was to point at them and sing as loudly and conspicuously as possible (to the basic tune of Ring Around The Rosey)

Picking your nose and chewing it
Everybody's doing it

Glorious.
