Random thoughts

Did you ever notice how people will often say "of course" when what they are saying isn't obvious at all?

When I was a kid, someone told to avoid "obviously" when writing. If it's obvious, you needn't write it, and if it's not obvious, you'll alienate your readers by suggesting that it is, was the gist of it. "Of course" seems to fall into the same category.

I remember seeing an interview with actor Jeff Goldblum where he addressed that issue and talked about how he deals with it when acting. He says he looks back and forth from eye to eye. And they showed some clips from his movies and that is indeed what he does. Not too fast back and forth though.

You may remember Jeff Goldblum from such movies as The Fly and Jurassic Park.

Remarkable man.

This is probably the best thread ever.

I use obviously and of course all the time. I've noticed that my writing skills have become horrendous lately. I blame the intermet.

I have gotten heavily into pretzel bits lately. Jalapeno flavored from Snyders of Hanover are the best - just a total freaking taste experience - but I can also get carried away with Buffalo wings flavor and also pizza flavor.

The odd thing about this is I don't even like pretzels. But I like pretzel bits. Well I don't just like them - I am borderline addicted to them.

I am about to begin my evening fix now.

I have been watching season 3 of Californication and I have 2 comments.

1) The show has gone way downhill. I remember liking season 1 quite a bit - then season 2 things started descending into shtick but it was still watchable - but now I'm not even sure I will bother watching to the end of season 3. Hank still has some funny quippy lines, but the plotlines are so weak and unrealistic. Plus the daughter is becoming more prominent in the narrative - and I hate to pick on a kid - but the girl that plays her can't act to save her life. She makes Miley Cyrus look like Meryl Streep.

2) OMFG Kathleen Turner is a trainwreck.
