I hear you pal, my best friend is 49, his old man died at 50 in the 80's when we were both teens. Last year his brother died at 51 and my bud is on quite the health kick. Never takes the elevator, always stairs, eats healthy etc.

I'm cheering for you guys but sometimes its just not in the cards.

All my grandparents (maternal and paternal) lived to very old ages as did their brothers and sisters - the plommer clan die old.

i would consider them rational and a realist... far cry from fearing something/someone extremely unbelievable ... especially with the non existence of even a grain of proof.. IMO

More importantly, what could be more arrogant than a simple human (spec of dust) thinking that they have it all figured out?
 
All critically thinking people should be willing to modify their beliefs when presented with more evidence. It would be wrong for me to say "there's definitely no God," since I'd be willing and happy to believe that there was one if the evidence presented itself.

Having said that, people tend to round a bit up and down. A lot of people see no evidence of God their entire lives and make the reasonable assumption that the remainder of their lives will contain about the same lack of evidence. I wouldn't call them arrogant or crazy for making a definitive statement.

nobody is being arrogant and saying they have anything figured out... im just saying, in my simpleton opinion, that believing/following/fearing something that nobody has never seen, heard, felt or has any shred of proof even exists, is teeter tottering on irrational ignorance ... outside of god/aliens/contact with the dead, i consider myself very open minded...

i wholeheartedly agree with your views of catholocism though

I cracked me up with that one.
 
I won my round in the pool league last night. You have to play best out of three, and I won the first two easy peasy.
They told me "wow, you actually play good, maybe you could win the whole series"

I don't know how much it is, but yeah, cash prize if you win it all.

I sat and had a beer and chatted with the other women after my round, it was a really nice evening.

Annoyed Bacon a little bit going on and on about it lol.
