The Cleveland Browns though.

I heard someone making the point that, while they may be the worst team in the NFL, they are not the most depressing. They pointed to the Jets, San Fran, the Bears and possibly Jacksonville as that.

I accept the premise on the surface. The worst team is not necessarily the most depressing. Last year's Toronto Maple Leafs are a prime case in point. Finished last overall yet the fans were almost giddily optimistic the whole season - and with reason. Expectation of a good draft pick. Good management and some promising prospects.

The Cleveland Browns seem in great shape for a top pick in the next draft. They have some philosophy and direction from above - a football version of Moneyball basically.

But still, they're the Cleveland Browns.

Wow. Toronto FC are still going on. Seems like it was 2 weeks ago I was gabbing about them here. I had totally forgotten them.

But no, they are still alive and in contention. It was just that long between playoff games. And there is just that little buzz about them.

Yes, soccer team. I believe in fact that the FC in Toronto FC stands for Football Club.

I listen to local sports talk radio every day - and I'm pretty sure they are just a step - maybe 2 - from the championship game - and I hadn't heard a peep that that game was going to happen. I just happened to flip by the TV channel when it was on.

In fairness there have been times in the past I have had to switch stations because some Toronto FC talk starts up - there is a niche of fans no doubt - it's not that there is never talk - but as for a lead-in to the current series which has to be considered huge for them - not a thing.

Put it this way: they are bigger than the local lacrosse team, the Toronto Rock, but Major League Soccer?

Don't piss on my head and tell me it's rain.

Only 61,000 people at the match last night!

ZERO BUZZ!

Toronto came back nicely to only lose 3-2! I think if they win 2-1 or 1-0 back in Toronto they make it to the final!

That is my understanding. Away goals is the first tie-breaker in the 2 game aggregate.

Now they wait like a week+ for the second game. Is there always so much time off for soccer teams after a game? Shows how much attention I pay to soccer. I woulda guessed they could play a bit more.
