About the only thing I don't love about The Wire is the name. The Wire. While it is simple - which is good - it does not come close to capturing the show. It is such a small fraction of it.

It should be Baltimore Drug Culture, 360.

Okay, we'll stick with The Wire.

The Wire is so freaking good. So was Homicide (given that, as a network show, some compromises were necessary). Those are some amazing accomplishments by David Simon.

Why was Treme such a chore? I got through season 1 but it felt like work. I feel like I need to give Treme another chance. How can it not be outstanding?

But I don't think so.

So I went into my rewatch of The Sopranos and The Wire with the notion that The Wire was the greatest TV drama of all time, just a hair ahead of The Sopranos - and I come out of it feeling the same way.

I don't know; maybe if I had watched them in the other order and The Sopranos experience was the freshest thing in my mind, then I would reverse the order - but I don't think so. While they are both triumphs of character and plot development, I think The Wire wins out because of relevance. It is such an intelligent look at so much real world stuff. The Sopranos is an amazing voyeur experience into an unfamiliar world but The Wire is everything.

They are both amazing achievements though, which I consider among the top artistic things I have witnessed in my lifetime. I look forward to rewatching them every 6-8 years for the rest of my life, and for it to be a real treat every time.

Next level I think - but it is still developing as is my assessment.

I think Six Feet Under is #3. i want to watch that again now.

Breaking Bad, Deadwood might be in around there too. Season 1 of Mad Men is there but I feel that if you look at the whole run of the show, it is a notch down.

I want to rewatch Homicide too. That was a pretty great show for a network property.

Not even getting into comedy. Different discussion. I think South Park is at the top of that list but comparing South Park to The Wire is impossible and ridiculous.

Sharknado (2013 TV Movie) - This is causing a bit of a stir thanks to a combination of really cheesy CGI, horrible camerawork, washed-up non-actors (Ian Ziering and Tara Reid) preposterous shark scenes and overall lunacy.

The final scene redeems maybe half the movie. Do yourself a favor and watch the last 30 minutes.

2.4 Matty Rains out of a possible 10

Fun fact - Ian Ziering (49) is almost as old as Mudcat.

We played the official Sharknado Drinking Game.

http://bonanzajillybean.tumblr.com/post/55811156106/sharknado-the-official-drinking-game

Take a drink every time:
- you see ominous shark fins
- a main character should die, but doesn’t
- there is a traffic or weather warning no one heeds
- Ian Ziering saves someone at the last minute
- a character says something inappropriately intellectual
- Tara Reid gets belligerent (only one per scene)
- there is a reference to the waitress’ deep, dark history with sharks
- there is a misappropriated JAWS reference

BONUS — Finish your drink if:
- a scene opens with a shot of a woman’s behind
- they actually say the word ‘Sharknado’

We also added criteria from another unofficial drinking game, including "when a shark is swimming in ankle-deep water".

Basically had to take a sip every 5 seconds. Drank a whole bottle of wine and the "movie" was only 75% through.

If I told you Larry David, John Hamm, Alec Baldwin and others put together a satirical comedy, is that something you'd be interested in?

Clear History is set to record in this household. If you have HBO then bam.

"That is literally the only thing an apology has to be"
