Denzel Washington has an extremely high batting average with me. Currently at imdb, he has 51 acting credits. A bunch of those are TV movies from before he was anybody and there are some specials and voice work I would never see - but whatever, any actor is going to have that - so 51 is the number.

I have seen 29 of them.

That is an amazingly high percentage.

I have seen 14 of his last 15 movies.

Oddly, there is nothing I consider really really great there. What are the great Denzel Washington movies? Some would say Training Day but I would disagree. Cry Freedom? Glory? Philadelphia? :dunno:

It's all just really solid consistent work over a long term.

Remember the Titans is the one of his last 15 I have not seen. Not that I am purposely avoiding it - it has just somehow slipped by me so far. But if I saw it in my TV listings tomorrow, I would tape it and watch it.

I am definitely not a Spike Lee fan so Denzel loses a few viewings with me there. I saw Malcolm X but not the other Spike Lee stuff.

Old Mil talk brings back childhood memories! The kids today have lots more to choose from like TV channels! Rarely drank Old Mil but lots of Miller and Michelob along with Bud were what was out there! Heineken if you had money in pocket (rarely my case) and we did go on a Molsom period for awhile! Market shares dwindling! Can't remember the last time I saw a person with a Mich in their hand!

Was curious for more info about Denzel so I delved deeper into imdb. Turns out I was pretty much in tune with the general public. He does not have a single movie in the top 250 but there is a whole lotta stuff in the above average range.

His top movie is Glory with a 7.9 - in which he had a supporting role - followed by American Gangster at 7.8 which was more of a lead.

He bottoms out with The Preachers Wife at 5.1

It also turns out I was wrong in saying I have seen 29 of his titles. In fact the number is 31. I did not remember Mississippi Masala until I saw the poster. Also, his first credit is Death Wish and my initial thinking was, "Ehh, probably not that Death Wish."

But it was in fact that Death Wish. He was Alley Mugger #1.

This lady keeps peace in the family by working everybody! Lovely!

Muddy, just got done watching latest episode since MrsM worked last night! Hoping Bates does make it back!

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but I watched The Tree of Life for the second time the other night, I couldn't sleep and it was on, so I watched it. Not much to say about this movie except that I find it bland and pointless. I'll give it 4.5 stevieballs because I feel that the actors, particularly the oldest son, did well in portraying their characters and the tension with in the family.

Same sleepless night I watched We need to talk about Kevin Now this was a movie, based on a novel, from the mothers point of view in regards to her son, who had murdered with a bow and arrow, his little sister, father, and the some classmates in his high school. It takes you on flash backs of this mother and her struggle to raise this odd boy. I don't have much to say here either, other then I found it slightly disturbing. Not very suspenseful, and if it weren't for the fact that there was not anything better on, I probably never would have watched it the whole way through. There wasn't much there to hold ones attention, and the entire movie was set in a gloomy, dooms day tone. Pass. I'll give it 3 Steveiballs.
EDIT TO ADD: It's also one of the only serious rolls I have seen John C. Reilly in. I looked it on IMDB, and I was incredibly shocked to see it had a rating of 7.5!

Would have thought Bone Collector would be his lowest rated film. Somehow that has a 6.5 rating on IMDB. That's surprising, since anything above a 3.0 is too high for that colossal piece of shit.

Devil in a Blue Dress also put me to sleep.
