I think one of the parts that really bother me the most is this: "Victim 6s mother tries to make Sandusky promise never to shower with a boy again but he will not."

Sandusky is telling her right then, and is caught on tape doing so, that he's a sicko. A truly contrite man who simply showed poor judgement in this instance would not refuse to promise that it won't happen again. It's almost like he was pleading for help. Or just so out of control that he couldn't tell her what even the most deranged person knows would be the right answer to say. I was saying to someone earlier that this is like something out of a tv movie. Hard to believe that it's actually real and so many people just looked the other way. Those janitors for starters need to be held accountable as well although I'm not sure if they even broke a law by remaining quiet.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but I believe I heard the result of the 2002 investigation into this guy referred to his contact with these boys as merely "horsing around".

No punishment will be too severe for those involved in this. Legally, JoePa may have met his requirement but this is a crime against humanity that transcends the law. Even though it was legal to make blacks sit at the back of the bus or drink out of a certain water fountain, it was wrong and looking back we know this. Well, same in this case. JoePa is guilty in the court of public opinion. Obviously if everything turns out to be true and I believe it will, Sanduscky needs to be put in general population but what about the coward grad assistant that witnessed the rape of a 10 year old boy and didn't step in to stop it? He's either the coward of this century or is fabricating/embellishing parts of his story. Can't even imagine what these kids had to endure.

What if Sandusky overpowered the grad assistant and killed him? From the pictures he looks like a big muscular guy. If the grad assistant was 130 lbs and Sandusky was 250 lbs he could have been killed if he interfered with a horny man twice his size. And someone who pounds ass in the showers of a public university would not hesitate to kill.
 
Well to say he wouldn't hesitate to kill is a reach. As far as we know he's never killed before and why didn't he just kill the GA knowing he saw them and would likely report the activity? So it's a very, very unlikely outcome. But like I said either the guy is a coward or lying. Now, I'm a pretty logical guy and understand the point you're making but I can't imagine a 20 something year old man seeing a 10 year old getting anally raped by a 60 year old man in a shower and not doing something to stop it. I can't fathom an excuse that would justify letting it continue.
 
Football teams are run like the military. If you were a sergeant and you saw the 3 star general pounding a new recruit in the showers you don't interfere. You go to the 4 star general and you tell him and make it his problem. There is a chain of command to take care of the matter. Obviously the grad assistant thought that Joe Pa was a wise man and would have acted wisely instead of trying to make it go hush hush so he can continue coaching towards his goal of being the greatest football coach ever.

He told the boss who is also like the pope (godly figure) of Happy Valley. If God didn't want to do anything with it why would he become a whistle blower? God would have expelled him from school and smear his name. He was the only witness. This is too big of a cover up to have allowed one student to go to police. The whole cover up was to maintain Joe Pa's legacy unblemished as long as possible.

Pavy I completely disagree with you. So bascially you're saying you'd never step in to stop anything as long as the offender is your superior? You seem to be using chain of command as a way out to cop out. Pavy, would you have stepped in to stop this? What if the 4 star general was raping your kid? And he correctly went to JoePa before going above JoePa, that part was correct. But to not step in and stop the rape was cowardly.
 
The kid who was being pounded was not in danger of dying. So it wasn't a life or death situation. Now if the kid was screaming for help and resisting and scratching Sandusky and he was hitting him he should have interfered. He saw something which was inappropriate but it wasn't a 911 type of emergency. So he called his dad and his dad advised him to leave the showers and go tell Joe Pa. He was a 20 year old kid and we should not expect him to attack a man twice his size just because he is pounding someone in the showers.

Would you attack Mike Tyson if he was having sex with a boy? I doubt it.

What if it was Mike Tyson raping your 10 year old? Not in danger of dying or anything, just mikey getting his rocks off. Would you step in for that? What if it was a 130 lb 5 star general? Or a 60 year old assistant coach? All sorts of theoretical questions. Pavy, I can't believe that you are doing anything more than playing devils advocate. At least I hope so because I have a feeling if it was your kid you would hope anyone witnessing it to step in and stop it.
 
Call the cops and ask them if you witness your boss raping a kid would it be more appropriate to call them and report it or pass it up the chain of command

And Archie makes a good point that the rape likely stopped at that point anyways.
