sin of Omission vs sin of commission for JoePa.

Guy is basically the Mayor of State College (hell half of Pa), President of the college, Athletic Director, Football Jesus....

He can say something, and it will happen..... in State College, his word is LAW.

Joe Omitted saying anything, to protect his program and a pal..... IMO

Hell Sandusky's own charity, the one he started.... BARRED him from contact with children back in 2008. yet he was allowed to have an office on campus and even speak at a commencement ceremony in 2007 (subject: "helping kids")????????

none of that happens if Joe puts his foot down.... hell all he had to do was tap his pinky toe....

he held back...



all that being said. this hugh incident doesn't completely change my opinion of Joe. I'm not really a fan of his... especially over the last decade....

but I do have a respect for his entire body of work..... this error doesn't change ALL of that for me....

it just further reinforces to me that ALL humans are a strange and unique mix of Good, great, mediocre, poor, and evil.....

i've been tossing this about for awhile in my head...

because Joe works for a University do mandated reporter laws not apply to him? (or the mike mcqueary grad assistant)?

I mean there have to be a few under 18 year olds that go to the university every year. So I would assume they would have to be trained in the mandated reporter crap every year.....

and that requires that if you are in contact with vulnerable populations. that you MUST report SUSPECTED abuse to the authorities... not your job authorities... but to police/child abuse hotlines/CYS ect...

how does that fit in here... Legally?
 
I think the PA state police, local police, and University police are getting a hugh pass here too...

the DA's office, I need to learn more about... I know there were some shady things that went down, but I haven't put the time line altogether.... plus there is that weird DA murder....

but anywho....
they've been sitting on this info for 13 years, and it is only coming out NOW?
 
Both the graduate assistant and joe are educators and thus are mandated reporters. Unlike ny law, all that pa requires us reporting up the chain of command, which they both did.

I'm glad I am trained in divorcing my emotions from my reactions. Acting emotionally is for the birds.
 
there are alot of dots that need connected for me......

like so in 1998 some mother reported this Sandusky guy to authorities, Sandusky admits to showering naked with the boy.. he says it was wrong and promises not to do it again... nothing happens???? c'mon

the next year he retires.....(so was he pressured into "retiring" did PSU/Paterno know they should cut ties with this sicko for the sake of the PSU name/program, but not go any further?

2000- PSU janitors see Sandusky blowing a boy in the showers, they tell their bosses at PSU... NO one when to the authorities..


it didn't start in 2002 with the red headed grad assistant......

there are dozens of people that dropped the ball on this one.....

and how many poor kids PAID for their apathy?
 
If after Sandusky's retirement..... he started taking star PSU football players out for late night drinking benders before game days....


do you think that Paterno would intervene? personally?

I think if he found that out, he'd call him right up...curse him out, and drive over to his place and get in his face and threaten to punch him....


I need that dot connected... I need to know what Joe did behind the scenes with his old colleague after finding out he was a kiddy rapist....
