the world is a dark place, but we just don't think or see much of it
 
I hope so Archie but it's such a confronting issue I think it's easier to sometimes just pretend that something like this is isolated to one messed up school. I know I myself have to start facing facts and stop being so bloody naive. When a child gets abducted by a stranger, while that's obviously horrific in itself, I can almost stomach that more than when there's been a breach of implied trust between a parent and someone in the community. After you'd want to kill someone, the guilt would be overwhelming.

I'm just not sure how you go about finding that balance between being protective and still allowing your kid to have a "normal" childhood.Or maybe they have more security and screening processes in place now for school and community programs than they did when I went to school. But they never even did a police check on this Sandusky creep before he was hired. And when I was telling the moms at my playgroup about this case yesterday, the first thing we started to talk about was all of the programs our kids are in, will be in some day, etc... School trips, camp, sports away games, etc. Fok man. It'll do your head in.

If you found out that Sandusky raped your 10 y/o son would you kill or mutilate Sandusky?

I think if I was a 40 y/o father working a dead end job and was going nowhere I would probably need to shoot him in the dick. I wouldn't want to kill him. Maybe just empty a clip into his sack and knee caps.

Pretty sure Saul Goodman could get me off with minimal time served.

Amen to this. It's fucking ridiculous. Did you happen to catch the Alabama/Auburn thing on ESPN earlier in the week?

It's almost like a mental illness. Those people get worked into enough of a lather to sound like they would literally KILL a fan from the other school. Disturbing.

Superfans are a scary breed of wierdo.

I read the "key findings" in the report. Fascinating/disgusting read. I think the Campus Police guy, I forget his name, should be held responsible more than anyone else. Everyone involved was justifiably uncomfortable in dealing with the situation. Spanier, Schultz, Paterno et al. are not experts at dealing with allegations of criminal activity. That fokken school police guy was supposed to be.
