BB, don't be so sensitive
sorry seor chango, but my comments weren't because of an oversensitive nature as far as defending america. i have always, and always will, let others know they are only showing off their ignorance when they make a blanket statement about an entire country/region because of one bad apple in the barrel. i get in texans' eyes like an onion when they say stupid shit like that about other locales, so it's not really a texas thang.

as for the 'global catholic' comment, i might agree if it had been a letter from the other side of the globe directing the church in toronto to cover things up. but it wasn't, so i will respectfully disagree.

I wonder where Mike McQueary will be a year from now.

My money is in some cush PR job at a corporation owned by a Penn State alum. And he'll never have to work hard another day in his life.

There just HAS to be some sort of payoff at the end of this for him. I've never seen any non-criminal get their name dragged through the mud like this in my life. His career is over. His name is ruined. There's no reason for him not to have resigned by now and found a hole to crawl into. And there's no reason that PSU hasn't fired him either, unless they don't want him out there trying to rehabilitate his name just yet. It doesn't add up.

Like I said, I bet he slinks off to little fan fare and next year about this time is in some anonymous job somewhere making 6 figures to do nothing.

So Shanty can anal children in the shower? What if he gets caught? Should the President of Pakistan resign? How about the coach of the cricket team?

the captain Salman Butt just go sentenced to 30 months

So, what if Paterno really was like a mafia Don in College Park? What if he really did know everything, and control everything, as some have claimed over the year. Just bear with me, I've got the workings of a Grisham novel kicking around in my head.

McQueary walks into those showers in 2002 and sees what he saw. Everybody is up in arms about what he did after that. First you have to understand that College Park is really small town USA. McQueary grew up there. He grew up in the same neighborhood as the Sandusky's. He played football with Jon Sandusky (and Paterno's son) in high school and later at Penn State. McQuearry's father and Jerry Sandusky were friends...it was tight knit community. A family. And Joe Paterno was the boss.

So back to the showers. McQuearry walks in and sees this man who he's known since childhood doing something unspeakable to a 10 year old boy. What does he do? He does something nobody in their right mind can comprehend. He walks away. Leaves. Goes home. He did nothing.

Well, not exactly. This is more about what he DIDN'T do really. He didn't attack the man in the showers, but knowing the family connection I can understand that. I can understand being to shocked to physically act. But once he got home, he didn't call the police. He didn't call campus police. He didn't call Paterno.

He called the one person he could trust... his father. Why?

It doesn't make sense to anybody that a 28 year old man would see what he saw, and his reaction was to go home and call his dad. It doesn't make sense to us, but then again we didn't grow up in State College...down the road from Sandusky. We didn't know the way things work like the McQuearry's did.

And what does McQuearry tells his son he has to do? Not call the police. Not call child protective services. No.

You gotta tell Paterno. You gotta tell the boss.

i agree with Jello on the McQueary thing! Like I said before Penn St is like the Philly area's adopted home college football team to root for! Next in line is Temple so enough said!

But all over the sports talk shows locally you hear people calling for MMcQ's head way more than Joe Pa's! In State College people are rallying for Joe Pa and McQ can't be at the game Sat cause of threats against him!

I don't know what I would have done in his situation! Probably would have went over to the toliet and threw up! He's only a grad coach and this guy was Joe Pa's right hand man forever! So he tells the guy in charge of PennState (yes Paterno is in charge) What's wrong with that? Figures the top guy can make sure the right thing gets done!

So Joe did the right thing by the book in going to the AD but never followed up on it or advised the AD to go to the cops! Probably knew if he did the whole dirty story would go public and would have tarnished his illustrious career! Dear Joe Pa, tarnish would look pretty sweet right now buddy!

IMO once Joe Pa speaks, don't know if I'll ever believe what he has to say! The State College crowd will probably believe him and think MMcQ is the liar or coward! They can't help but have blinders on! Joe Pa's a God!

Joe Pa must have thought he was bigger than life! Remember this unsuccessful attempt to make him retire in 2004! This was written in a paper on Tuesday 11/9!
If the circumstances were not so horrific, the reports emanating from Penn State that university officials are working to "manage the exit" of football coach Joe Paterno would actually be funny.

University officials have been doing that for more than a decade, with little success. Penn State president Graham Spanier and athletic director Tim Curley mustered their courage and went to Paterno's house in 2004 to discuss a retirement schedule and were essentially tossed onto the lawn.

The administration wanted to find a graceful way to end the Paterno era before the program that he built into a national powerhouse suffered from his unwillingness to step aside.

Yes, maybe Mike McQ could have done more in that freightening situation, but at least he didn't just completely shut his eyes to it! Maybe he would have been better off if thinking selfishly! Just like it appears Joe Pa was probably thinking he would be better off, which he was until the dirty laundry came out!

Hey, maybe M McQ is a total creep but just don't see why he has to take all the heat and Joe Pa doesn't get his share! Yes Joe Pa has done many great things but now it will be on the back burner to the bad decision he made! Once again it's very sad, but only for the kids! Fuk everyone else!

I'm starting to think that school or town is just weird all around.

My mom's old friend posted this on her fb yesterday. "So happy that Penn State finally got what was LONG overdue. When my daughter was there in '95 and '96 there was a rape on her floor, suicide (jumped from a bldg), gunman with shooting on campus, etc. But the parents got their weekly football newsletters!!! Everything was swept under the carpets..."

My ex fiancee was date raped there (NOT by me). True story.

Me and my ex roomate dated 3 girls with the same name at the same time (me 2 him 1). True Story.

Weird town, but we're not all douchebags.

I bet an average Big time football BCS type program yields on average around 10 instances of rape, date-rape, sexual assault ect every year. we hear about maybe 5-10% of them. Others aren't reported, are hushed, aren't given credit, swept under the carpet ect...

The Problem isn't just the Sandusky's (there is one that lives in your town), Mike McQueary's, JoePa's ect..... its the whole system.

College Football is just too big and important and just too many people's lives..... ( I include myself in that statement)

its a monster, and like many fictional monsters, it will eat and devour many in its way....

most of my family went to PSU, and they are all disgusted at this and deeply disappointed at JoePA and the staff and all of this. I dated a girl for awhile in college, she went to PSU. I did not, her family all went to PSU too. they were crazy fans, went to every game, even went it meant traveling from 8 hrs away. I want to throw up thinking of them now, I KNOW they are trying to defend and exonerate the program and JoePa now..... its just sickening

I think because I didn't go to an American college the whole concept is just bizarre to me. Being so wrapped up in a sports team... especially when the alumni are still going to every game 40 years later... blows my mind. But I also somewhat understand why many of the students there are lashing out and seem to be in denial of some sort. I'd imagine they'd feel like it was them against the world when you're in such an insulated environment and your school and some of the people you idolised are being plastered all over the media.

To me the story is just of a pedophile, people failing to protect those children and a cover up. Awful but I'm a world away. But for those who are passionate about that school they must really be hurting. Or will be when it all finally sinks in. These staunch defenders must know somewhere inside that this is the truth. They might not ever admit it out loud but they must know deep down.
