Potato would love to here the NCAA's reasoning behind why Penn State has to pay a $60 million fine.

It appears it went above just football and the NCAA president stepped in with unprecedented penalty! On the Big Ten Network Monday opinion was worst than 1 year DP it that team lost 10 scholarships a year and no Bowl games for 4 years which would set program back a lot longer! Plus the fine!

Like Senco stated fine really not big cause PS had 72 million in revenue in 2011 from everything related to football! Of course less people will buy PS items now but stadium will probably still be packed this year IMO! Didn't realize over the years how the amount of people (State College and surrounding area) are so circle the wagon protect their image! Hopefully as time goes on they realize what happen here was so grave! Probably so stunned that their minds can't accept the obvious!

we dont like what a guy did and that a few people (*not university heads and one dead guy) kept secrets and we are not only going to bury your program and make sure you dont make money or have scholarships to give to kids (which i can understand) , but we somehow feel as if you need to give us some money too...the fine is garbage, imo

I still don't understand why the NCAA was ruling on this, and a rush job to boot.
 
It's the 60 mil they would have received next year from the TV deal. Would it sounded better if they said: "You don't have to pay a 60 million fine next year. We are going to withhold the 60 million you would have received from the TV deal."
 
I saw on the news at the doctors today that they are making budget cuts and trying to figure where to pull the monies from and that
the big 10 is taking them for an additional 13million dollars...

the govenor and the school are saying that they will make sure no tution or tax money is used to pay these fines....

other then that, who the hell knows.
but this, I won't be suprised if it breaks the school.
 
college football, what a joke. I bet all kind of abuse of power go on at most schools. huge hierarchies of bullshit because somehow an amateur sport is worth big money. And then they refuse to pay the players. Focking child abuse is the definition of big time college sport.

its gotten so big and so business oriented (read $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) that it is Religon to many fan bases, schools, and staffs.

I also think the NCAA needs to have a "face" or commissioner for the big sports....

but there is plenty of guilt and shame to go around on this one... and I accept mine as well as a huge football fan that put my money into the religion of college football coffers, including many a PSU game and clothing.....

millions are part of the problem
 
Total bloodbath with the players/recruits too, all because the corrupt and unjust NCAA overplays their God complex. I was never even a big PSU fan but man this is messed up.

PSU will lose their best player Silas Redd on Monday, make no mistake he's gone to probably win a National Championship at USC. Other coaches started calling their players and recruits approximately 30 minutes after sanctions were announced. Real cllassy fellas. Why wait til Monday Silas, thanks but no thanks for trying to show you give 1% of a shit. Fok Kiffin too.
