Casp is hustlin which warrants respect at least he doesn't sit on his ass and pretend he deserves it, AND he respected the fact that my DWI is EXPUNGED which means it DOESN'T EXIST.

Adults work at fast food places and Walmart checkout person or whatever. Yeah I guess they are trying, I respect that..but at the end of the day...they are losers.
Just like Casper is a loser.

Not sticking up for anyone here. The shame is the factory/blue collar jobs have been shipped to Mexico and Asia. The only jobs created now are low-paying service ones. Meanwhile The government (both sides) brag about the unemployment going down. All those jobs pay 8.50-11/hour with no benefits. Pretty tough if you have a kid to feed.

I agree with that. Some steps on the ladder of life have been taken out. People have to either stay low or climb higher.

I'm going to guess Housepicks is insulting me in some way. I have his messages on block. I'll also assume it's about my job or how I owe two people $$.

I became a bartender because it pays well and I truly enjoy doing it. Over the last 17 years, I have met some amazing characters. I have met girls WAY out of my league that gave me physical comfort because of my profession. I have made up to $800 in one night and as much as $3200 in one week. I have worked in 4 major cities and various towns.

If I had a chance to do it over again, I would have done things a little differently. That said, tending bar has been VERY good to me. Housepicks can hate on me all he wants, but to hate on my profession shows his ignorance to what it can provide.

Sidenote: San Fran +7 is the play of the day. :pope:

He said nothing about owing, more about the future when you are a bartender. Lets face it, I don't know anyone who has a retirement plan from a bar. I do bartend some weddings on the side and a lot of people in the business are awful workers and are bad with money. I see too many people who get big tips on friday night call in on saturday because they are satisfied with the $150 they made. Not saying you do this, but its the nature of the business from someone who has worked in it for years off and on.

You are correct that most don't have a retirement fund per say but I know quite a few pro bartenders that have saved quite a bit over the years.

I have seen many bartenders that blow through money and then get "real" jobs. Professional bartenders do it differently.

It could be argued by many that blue collar workers are "losers." You seem to be very defensive about your trade, and how that is more important from a practical standpoint than those of us who allegedly sit around discussing history and the necessity of the Oxford comma. In that vein,

Casper contributes to a healthy economy. Casper keeps the Trons of the world employed arresting those who drive under the influence after Casper overserves them. He keeps the Boners of the world employed defending those DUI Bacons. He causes DUI Bacons of the world to refinance their house thru the non DUI Bacons to pay the Boners for their defense. He keeps the IAGS employed when DUI Bacon spends all his refinance money on hookers and blow instead of paying Boner, and gets sued for not paying his fines and or attorney. Not to mention how many bars require pretzels and thus the FairWarnings of the world.

Casper should be lauded, not condemned.

Also, life is different for SNKs and DINKs....he doesn't have a Sally whose teeth need fixing.

HP...where's Andy?

Turkey is one of three countries that is on two continents. Europe and Asia.

Russia - also Europe and Asia.

Egypt is in Africa and Asia.

Actually there are many countries that have remote island possessions and protectorates that could put them in the bi-(even tri)-continental category, but just in terms of the main matzo ball? Those 3.

I would bet less than 10% of them could retire somewhat comfortably.

Anyone who would put all blue collar workers in one group and call them losers would have to be a total snob with their nose up at most everything in life.

60% of Americans don't make what bartenders do FW.

doesn't matter

its a made up stat you pulled out of your ass

a) first of all how many people are going to start and end a career as a bartender? for 97% of people (I can make up stats too) that start bartending, they will get a more stable regular hours job later on in life 97% of those that are NOT lifelong fuk ups looking to get on a talk show or tv court show, anyways

b) we'd need to know how well bartenders SAVE and invest a portion of their $

c) how does their SSI in the future look, if alot of their income comes from tips and they don't report it on taxes?

d) what kind of retirement plans and 401k type pension plans do Bartenders typically utilize?
