any penalty you think is reasonable for drunk driving doesn't deter it. That's the whole point of drunk driving, it's a poor decision.

The only compelling counter to the alcohol = guns angle is that the benefit derived from alcohol is greater. I don't buy it, but it's at least feasible/arguable. Guns are tools, blah, blah, blah. Alcohol is a recreational drug, recreation and social interaction is valuable... It's feasible...
