Archie, don't know what Pirates could use! Possibly a power hitting HR threat? But the Cards don't hit many either! Two similar teams but rooting your Buccos on! Hopefully them making and going far in the playoffs helps make your recovery easier to handle!

they could use a righty power hitting first basemen to platoon with and any solid bench/role players

maybe some mid relief


the Pirates have really amazing depth in their minors, they don't have a ton of (healthy) can't miss stud prospects

but they do have too much talent that they could lose in the rule V draft next year, because they won't have room on their 40 man roster to protect them all.

so i see them being very active and trying to get some return on some A+, AA, and AAA guys before they lose them for nothing

Pirates either have a tired bullpen or a weak bullpen.

Watson and Caminero are the close and late guys. That's scary if you're a Pirate fan, right?

Watson is amazing, this game notwithstanding

would be a closer for many teams

Caminero IS scary, guy is a top 5 hardest thrower in league but he is wild and inexperienced

all in all I think they have the 2nd best Pen in the league according to the numbers

i almost feel bad for McCutchen, he seems like a real nice dude. but his agent got him robbed

he got 500k for a 3rd plkace MVP finish in 2012
4.5 million for winning the MVP in '13
7.25 million for 3rd plave MVP in '14
he gets 10 million this year

then 13 million, then 14 million , then a team option for 14.75 million

In a sports world where everything seems tilted towards the athletes, that's a rare case where a team gets a bargain.
