*Phillies have -60 differential for some reference

Run diff. usually pretty accurate and Phils in process of losing 7th in last 9 games! Back to being the team they really are!

Last night tied score in top of 9th and Phils leadoff hitter walks on 5 pitches! For some reason Sandberg has Ruiz not bunting! Swings through 1st pitch and guy caught trying to steal 2nd base! OK, maybe Ruiz isn't a good bunter but why not see if the pitcher can throw a first pitch strike after easy walk previously! Didn't make sense to me! Maybe the Cubs knew what they were doing in not hiring him as manager!

Sandburg would have been in a no-win situation in Chicago. Unfortunately he is in one now also.

Think you had an unlucky April?

Not as unlucky as Chase Utley.

His April BABIP was .102

:mrquincy:

Since early May it's been .393 and average now stands at .207! Still, if not more than say .230 by end of July Phils seriously have to say might be time to retire Chase! Has 500 AB clause that kicks in 16 million contract for next year! Someone else needs the time to see if they can play or not!

The Blue Jays are playing Houston for the second time this season, and I have kept hearing about a player - it sounded to me like they were saying "El Tube."

That's how I took it. Like pronounced El Too-bay. That's what I was hearing. El Tube.

I figured it was Hispanic for, like, The Big Tube. El Tube. Like maybe it was the Hispanic equivalent of calling someone The Big Unit.

I always though that was a good nickname. The Big Unit. In-your-face without being in your face. I assumed it started way in the past and some guys saw him in the shower and lo and behold, a nickname was born. The Big Unit.

It has a fun, mischievous vibe. Uptight people probably want to take issue but how can you do that without seeming like you're the one with a dirty mind?

Like hey, we just call him The Big Unit. You're the one thinking about dicks.

And I figured maybe the same thing happened with someone called El Tube.

But I just learned it is actually a guy named Altuve. That's just his name. Altuve.

So that's it.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Jose Altuve

Spark plug guy that is short enough to be a horse jockey.

But he's not referred to by his last name any more than Cabrera, Trout or Kershaw.

It's not like it's an Ichiro thing.

Or maybe what you were getting at in that post went way over my head.

:dunno:

It's not about having a large John Thomas.

nope

and not that height matters in that discussion, but the guy is almost prob the shortest player in MLB

he is 5'4 or 5'5 even if he is listed as taller

also led the league in hits and BA last year with 225 and .341
