I remember 150 years ago when the South wanted to secede but the North attacked them to not secede. That's how democracy works.

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm not sure why reno is completely ignoring Yanukovych's record and his 100000% over-the-top spending for himself.

This shit is what happens when assholes like him grossly abuse democracy's loopholes.

now please correct me if I am wrong (and I know Matty will love doing that either way) but didn't the Ukraine agree to give up their nukes and structure down their military while Russia agreed not to invade them and the US and some other countries agreed to defend them if that happened? Perhaps in the 90's?

That was 19th century, Saulty. As Mr Hypocrite aka John Kerry recently said, "It’s really 19th century behavior in the 21st century."

that whole speech was classic. Kerry subconsciously went off on a rant he likely used to attack Bush administration from several years ago. Thats what happens when your brain is full of pr slogans. :bowpanda:

they all agreed not to invade Ukraine. Technically everyone agrees not to invade anybody under the un charter :dunno:

That is what I read.

I only jump on you when you go full 'tard. I'm firm but I'm fair.

Great post. I would love to see a list of countries where the majority changed from democracy to state-run "for the common good". "For the common good"tells me the only ones happy are the "elected" officials and their cronies.

I'm curious why you throw out these words, and use them nonsensically. Who is talking about "the common good"? Democratic process in fact is something that addresses a common good. ie, the population decides what is to be done. that = democracy, that = a common good.
Capitalist economy is the opposite of democracy.

so what your basically saying is the UN charter is useless and all countries are liars?

Well, there is the security counsel. So basically the members of the security counsel can veto any action, so only small countries who are not members can be sanctioned by the UN. US vetos a lot of stuff. It is the #1 law breaker.

What sucks is that Russia/Ukraine loses if there's to be further violence.
The further fragmentation of Eastern Europe and further encroachment by the West is a likely outcome. The best result for Russia (and everybody imo) is to keep a whole and friendly Ukraine. But I don't see that being possible.

I'm thinking now it's likely the feigned outrage of the West is a deliberate ploy. The West stirs up tension in Ukraine, probably covertly engages in the overthrow. Then they accuse Russia of invasion. (Everyone can see it's not much of an invasion) But I'm guessing some Ukranians believe it is. Enticing of hostilities, leads to violence. End result=exactly what the West has been striving for since probably the 40's or before. (although the strategy probably more recent). The fragmentation, dis empowerment, and exploitation of eastern Europe and Russia.

But Russia may be aware of this. It is interesting to see how Russia is saying war with Ukraine is out of the question. Annexation of Crimea, also Russia has been saying no, at least as recent as a week ago.
Problem is that if there's any violence between Russian and Ukrainian forces, which seems likely sooner or later, there will be no way of keeping Ukraine from fragmenting and in this scenario both Russia and Ukraine lose.

Russia might have no choice but to go on the offensive. And not against Ukraine. Could be big trouble
