Here's something I have wondered about many a time.

Sometimes when you are logging into something-or-other, after you have entered your info, it takes you to a page that say something like, You will be redirected shortly

and then there is a link that says, or click here if you do not wish to wait



Is there a reason you would ever not click that link?

If the page loads before you get a chance to click it, yes.

Also, seems like a good way to trick someone. I'm the one that usually gets the call to fix friends/relatives computers when they start acting up. 9 times out of 10 the probelm is spyware/malware that installed itself because someone clicked (yes/allow) something without knowing what it was.

Most recently (the other day) I got a phone call from my mother asking if I could repair some of the programs on her computer that had been deleted.

The problem? She created a user account on her computer for her grandson to use and gave him admin priveledges, the kid fucked with settings etc and I had to fix it for her.

I gave her proper shit for letting a 10 yr old have an admin acct on her main computer. She said the kid specifically requested the admin so he could install games to play.
:facepalm:

I told her next time to make sure she lets the kid know that only grandma will be installing programs on the computer.

Like if you have to go to the bathroom or want to grab a beer or snack from the fridge. That's the only times I don't click it.
 
Sometimes you click at the very same time as the redirect kicks in and it's like you triggered a miniature black hole that destabilizes your computer and the page sits there for an extra 30 seconds and you don't know if you should refresh or not.

Click early or not at all. If you hesitate even one second, abstain. Your porn can wait, let it come to you.
