Muddy, how much money would someone have to pay to live your remaining days on American soil?

Slightly confuzzled by the question. It seems like a question you would ask an America hater which I'm not at all. I see plenty of pros to living in America as well as a few cons to living in Canada. I consider America to be a great country. Don't lump me in with betplom.

Maybe I am just imagining those undertones. :dunno:

As far as the actual question, I just see it as a question of how much it would cost to uproot me. I suppose it would cost a bit more to send me to the States than getting me to move to, say, Vancouver, but nothing crazy. I would love to go somewhere with warmer weather year-round and the States have a few options on that.

There are bunch of points of clarification to this but without over-analyzing, if someone plunked $200K in front of me right now, I would do it.

Weather here right now is pretty amazing though.

Nov. 23rd in Canada and I'm galavanting about in an unzipped windbreaker. It's not just today either. I have yet to pull out anything heavier than the windbreaker since last winter. Sometimes I have used a hoodie/windbreaker combo for bike riding but that's it.

Don't recall needing a hat yet.

Yeah that's right - I made a post about the weather. Got a problem with that?

Plommer has a problem with the system and the hypocrisy more than the country.

You realize that you aren't even legally allowed to enter the USA because of past arrests/convictions?

The US does not recognize a pardon granted in Canada, every time you entered the USA without a US waiver (advance permission) you did so illegally. Muddy in their opinion you're a "convicted felon" and therefore inadmissible as a visitor. If you are asked "have you ever been arrested?" and answer yes you will be detained while they investigate. If you lie and answer no you will likely be successful and be granted admission to the US.

Canada does the same thing to Americans, refuses entry because of a past arrest/conviction, its fukkin stupid.

I've read plenty of horror stories of Americans and Canadians that were denied entry to the USA/Canada while on a cruise ship or train tour.

Americans should be aware that the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has full access to the US police information database and will know about any previous arrests or convictions as soon as they scan your passport. Americans with an arrest record will be denied entry to Canada.

The numbers of Americans denied entry to Canada and Canadians denied entry to the US have gone way up since 9/11. Paranoia seems to trump common sense.
