Random thoughts

My enthusiasm for the hot dog flavored chips went steadily downhill. I finished the bag but don't see myself buying them again.

I have gotten heavily into pretzel bits lately. Jalapeno flavored from Snyders of Hanover are the best - just a total freaking taste experience - but I can also get carried away with Buffalo wings flavor and also pizza flavor.

I usually drink skim milk because I have high cholesterol. But I went to pick up some milk at the convenience store and all the skim milk was going to expire in 2.5 minutes so I got a bag of 1%.

I tell you man, when you are used to skim milk, 1% is incredible. My morning coffee with milk seems like a dessert.

Interesting thing is, for my whole life before they told me I had high cholesterol, I drank 2%. I never gave it any thought. It was just milk. Nothing special.

But now 1% - which is only half as much percent as 2% if you do the math - is like a feast compared to my new norm.

Do you see what I'm saying? It just goes to show you, doesn't it?

It sure does.

So of course my thinking goes: well if you like the 1% milk, just buy it all the time. The cholesterol situation is what it is. You take the meds and things stay under control. A milk upgrade isn't going to make any difference.

But of course the thing is: an upgrade is irrelevant. Because I would quickly get used to the 1% milk and the experience would be no different than my current experience with the skim. I would need to dabble with the 2% to get that same buzz. And of course things would only escalate from there.

Did you ever notice how people will often say "of course" when what they are saying isn't obvious at all?

Muddy, from our experience 2% is what we have decided is the best of both worlds. . OF COURSE whole milk tastes richer than 2% but being a lifelong heavy consumer of milk I don't notice it.

Biggest difference health wise (if that's a concern) is going from whole to 2%. Going 2% to 1% not much except a taste difference for us. Also, from my dad earlier in life being on a skim milk kick, I can tell you it is colored milk, plain and simple.
