why do most right handed people learn to play guitar with the right hand strumming and left hand playing the notes, do the chords?

seems like the easier task for the weak less coordinated hand would be to strum

You would think so indeed.

In an interesting twist, most left-handed people also learn to play guitar the right-handed way. Us hardcore lefties (write with the left, play the left-handed guitar) are a tiny minority - 2% or so according to guitar sales.

Handedness is a strange thing.

Hers is not bad at all. It was used as the family cottage before she retired 2-3 years ago.

She paid $10k for a 100' by 100' lot and $50k for the prefab house. About to expand it for another $20k.

Mommy Rain has simple tastes. I don't know what's wrong with me.

Maybe just because most guitars are positioned that way, so when you pick it up thats the way you learn :dunno:

Rent has gone up like 50% here over last couple years. I'm even considering buying something (unlikely still) and I hate the idea of owning stuff that you don't have to.

Nah. When I started I immediately picked up the guitar backwards and learned playing with the low string at the bottom. My dad played most of his life that way, and some professional musicians did the same.

There was no way I was going to play right-handed.

You either have a strong preference for one side or you don't.
