I just discovered the joy of Alexia spicy sweet potato fries.

Baked those bad boys @ 400 for 28 minutes. So good.

Julienne Fries with Chipotle Seasoning

:thankyou:

Daft, you have taught me so much about potatoes. First, a post by you inspired me to buy some russets. You had mentioned that you were baking a potato and gave the instructions. I was on my way to the grocery store anyway so I thought, sure, I can bake a potato. Delicious.

Now this. I didn't even know what "julienne" was besides a a proper name and a cooking term.

Daft, I just made curried sweet potato cakes Daft. They're pretty good.

Daft, keep up the potato related information. I am benefiting greatly.

Curried Sweet Potato (Pan)cakes with Chutney

2 large sweet potatos
2 large egg whites

1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon curry powder - or more to taste
1 teaspoon cayenne - more or less to taste
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 green onions (scallions)
1 cup whole wheat flour
cornmeal
chutney

Wrap sweet potatos in Al foil and roast till done (45min?) in a 375
degree oven. I sometimes do this while the oven is on in the evening,
then store them in the frig for use the next night for supper. Peel

and mash and combine with the egg whites, curry powder, cayenne, salt,
and minced green onion and then stir in the flour and baking powder.
You might want to add a little more flour if the mixture is too runny,
but it will be really soft. Put a layer of cornmeal on a plate and

plop about 1/3-1/2 cup of the mixture on it and flatten. Use a
spatula to flip and coat both sides with cornmeal. (Use lots of
cornmeal to prevent sticking!). Use the spatula again to transfer the
cake to a "pam"-sprayed cookie sheet. Bake them at 375 degrees for

about 20 min, turning once to brown both sides. Serve them with your
favorite chutney-from-a-jar and rice or noodles. This will make
enough for two hungry people- 3 to 6 cakes depending on the size of
the potatos and how big you make them.

You would think Potato would be the one supplying all this highly beneficial potato information to this thread but noooooooooooo, he's to busy not getting Tomato's money down in time at the Palace Station.

Robot, my sweet potato obsession began when I learned that they are essentially a super food. Problem is, I don't really like the taste/texture of them.

BUT, these baked sweet potato fries are outstanding (and not fried) so I really think I'm on to something here.

Looking forward to dinner tonight:

Salad (carrots/tofu/steamed broccoli/Bolthouse Farms honey mustard yogurt dressing)
SWEET POTATO FRIES

Desert:
Multi grain chips w/ some classic hummus
Small amount of double chocolate pudding

Does anyone here purchase sushi grade fish from a local market and prepare sushi @ their home?

I'd like to start doing this (my step-Dad does it in Atlanta).

I can't find a market that sells it.

Not easy to find. I was lucky enough to live a block away from TEH major fish market in Montreal. I made my own sushi a couple times and it was a hit. Satisfying experience. :greencheck:

It's not delivery, it's Matty Rain's sushi:

I don't want you to try the sushi here. It's nowhere close to what we had near your place in Costa Mesa. That shit was unreal. Toronto sushi is sub-par.

Yea I miss my usual sushi spots in socal. I have only tried the cheap sushi joints in nyc so far.

Might have to save up and give this place a try soon: http://www.yelp.com/biz/sushi-yasuda-new-york

Blitty, unless you were really drunk when you had it, you'd know if you were eating real wasabi or not. It doesn't burn your taste buds off like the fake stuff does if you have too much in one go. It's hard to explain but it kind of hits your tongue with a zing, changes taste a little bit and then goes up through your nose somehow.

I know that explanation sounds a bit off but I don't think I can describe it properly. Real wasabi is heaven in your mouth.

As for making sushi at home, I do it for Seth and I at least once a week. But he likes everything rolled and then unrolled before he eats it, so I'm starting to think that just buying some shithouse mungy stuff from the mall is the way to go.

Only fags eat Sushi.

Common.

PS: I hate it when you go to the washroom for a piss and with 5 empty urinals some fag uses the urinal next to you.

There is an unwritten rule among men that you never use the urinal right next to a guy already pissing if there is another available a couple spots away.

Common.
