Reno brings up a good point that the victims of PapaGeorge were attempting to buy and operate a scammy tout site themselves.

The case could be made that they believed that PapaGeorge was a capable handicapper and was going to provide daily picks at no cost, but really, why would that make sense to anyone?

One of Georges lies here was him saying he would offer to stay and deliver selections if it need be required and on top of all that he would do it free of charge. Not gonna find the post but it was there.

Plus there are those out there that enable themselves to be taken advantage of by either gulibility or their own personal greed.

Ok..so to summarize this thread: Shari completely buried pappa in every way possible.

Don't say that!! I'll start to feel badly for George again. It was suggested to me in this thread to PM Chris by someone much wiser than myself and I listened.

how you know this guy Sheri?

awfully strong name: assasin

I don't know him Reno. I saw his 2 threads in PZ. I posted a reply to him letting him know that I may have found George posting at another forum (here). Once I started the thread here and George confirmed it was him I went back and PM'ed the original poster who turned out to be Chris.

And for what it's worth Chris, I admire what you're doing with scammers in general. Even more so considering you get no monetary benefit out of all of this.

My guess would be because George said in the response section of his first Flippa auction that he would supply plays every day via email if the buyer couldn't handicap themselves. :dunno:

I know, wal, but I'm asking why would that make sense to anyone? Would you buy a business that depended on a guys word that he would work for free in perpetuity?

Not planning a book or anything. Sorry. Money is not my motivation here -- neither (entirely) is bringing down scammers. My goal is to help them change their ways... Some take my offer and work on providing restitution to those they have scammed and others, like Mr. Pappas, choose to fight me as the enemy and believe they can con their way out of any situation.

Yes, George offered to continue providing his picks for "free" to the new site owner(s). Scammers like George prey on people's weaknesses, such as greed. Logically someone would look at what Mr. Pappas was peddling and would see the dozens of obvious red flags... But, their desire for easy money overrides their common sense.

Don't feel too badly for Mr. Pappas... He has every chance to work with me and make this all better. I have offered him this option on several occasions; but he is convinced that sticking to his deception is the right way to go. I do feel sorry for how lost he has become, but when someone is offering him help and he is refusing to take it...

Shari, you gotta grow some balls here. You can't aide in someones destruction and then have sympathy for them.

I do have a tiny bit of sympathy for him because I'm assuming he's really messed up since he's been given multiple chances to rectify this before it got out of hand and he chose not to.

Mrs X referenced it here, but it was also mentioned in the thread I linked from another site (the one Mr X referred to maybe joining) that George may indeed have some sort of personality disorder. In fact a poster at the other site was referring to George as a sociopath if I remember correctly and Chris was debating the application of that term to George as he felt George was merely a scammer. That's how that thread ended over there.

Mr. X Mr. X................I clearly stated in the thread in which you quoted me that some people are that gulible or either just as greedy as the person doing the scam.

Shari, fck George, he's scum, scamming lieing scum. Not baby killer sicko scum but still scum. Shari someone much like George has taken your identity and commited crimes against you. They deserve your frustrated anger not sympathy.

If a homeless person sees you drop your wallet and doesn't return it, they are homeless have sympathy for them.

I guess this is why I kind of like you, your willingness to forgive.

Actually, the thread you were referring to is painting George as a sociopath -- not in his defense but rather as a reason to believe he needs to be locked away. My argument there was that we cannot box all scammers together and say "they are bad people and deserve to be in prison". I feel that each "scammer" needs to be individually assessed.
