Caught some Bill Maher stand up last night. I'm not big on political talk/jokes maybe that was part of the problem but I felt like I was watching a long endorsement for Obama that was trying too hard to be funny. 5 Camitacos

Don't think I've ever watched it,not into political shit.Yeah they're fake whack jobs I get it. Not that funny to me.

I like Stewart better for the record, much better then Maher. I hope when Maher sees this shit no one gets hurt.

See, Steve is not into political stuff at all. I on the other hand, am. I like the daily show a good bit. I also like Real Time with Bill Maher. His stand up we watched last night was crap compared to his show. One of my favorite lines is "Mr. president, there are two ways to look at your 51%-48% win. One is we love you. The other is we like we you 3% better then Mitt Romney"

I never really paid attention to him. I thought he had a serious version of the Daily Show going on. I don't think I ever laughed at his shit. It's more like "ha ha, true, true, well said Mr. Maher."

Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) - I had not heard of this movie before the Oscar nominations came out but I couldn't help but notice the attention it got. Best Picture/Director/Actress. So I checked it out.

Not sure how to react. *SORTA SPOILERS I GUESS* It was showing something - a way of life - which I consider pretty stupid. Stupid, crappy people living more-or-less like wild animals (except with plenny alcohol) in the deep woods/swamps of Louisiana - and fighting any attempt to civilize them. That's fine. I don't mind looking at distasteful situations in a movie. But there seemed to be a tone of celebrating these people - whom IMO are really not something to be celebrated for a bunch of reasons.

So I was not on board with the message. Maybe I was even mistaken. Maybe there was no message. Maybe it was just intended as a "for your consideration." Whatever, it was well presented. It provided some things to think/talk about.

It of course has produced what I would call a stunt nomination: the 9 year-old girl, Quvenzhan Wallis (who was 6 during the filming) for Best Actress. I am seldom on board with these child nominations but I'm not going to pick apart her performance. I would not have nominated her but she was fine.

Yeah I see what you mean, the clever and half funny/half serious angle.

End Of Watch

Other than some cute, realistic dialogue between the two patrol partners in their marked unit, this movie is terribad.

Where The Wire is a 9.25 in terms of being realistic, End Of Watch is a 3.5.

*Assuming they were going for realistic, of course.

it was so so for me daffy...some hwy patrol guys i know liked a lot, while some city cop friends, who actually work the hoods, didnt like it as much... do you watch Southland? i dig it...
