Out of curiosity, approximately how much time do you guys spend watching television or movies per week?

If I had to ballpark it, I'd say 6-8 hours.

Let's see: 1 or 2 movies (2-4 hours) + Girls (30 mins), New Girl (30 mins), How I Met Your Mother (30 mins) & Modern Family (30 mins).

HIMYM's is done for the season and Top Gear (60 mins) is about to come back so add 30 mins to the total.

6.5 hours at best, excluding sports.

Teela, missed seeing you here on a daily basis! Thougth possibly someone arrived on the scene to take up your time? MrsM was asking me bout it last week or so!

I fly under the radar, Mr. M! Tell the Mrs that the eagle has landed. I went to Nashville for a few days. Not smart since it was the weekend for Justin Bieber and the first hockey game of the season. I had planned a trip to Tampa for a hockey game, but those stinkin' seats sold fast. I'll head up to Charlotte for a basketball game in a few weeks. Just trying to stay busy, but I'm always around here.

Long shot that anybody will be interested but just in case. Today in the spanish channel Telefutura(Unimas) will start at 10pm a new series called Rosario Tijeras out of Colombia. Filmed on location in the comunas of Medellin, those are the ghettos durito used to live in when he was poor. It's a badass show about the city gangs the narcos employ. If you like Breaking Bad it's like it but more raw and authentic. English subs with SAP audio. 9.1 Matty Rains.

Lincoln (2012) - To be honest, I was expecting something more. It's good - I'm rating it 7/10 which is fairly high for me - but I'm definitely not seeing a Best Picture here. In fact I already have it below Les Miserables which is the only other nominee I have seen. I feel sure there will be other nominees I like more than both.

I found it a bit hard to get into. It seemed like there was a lot more subtlety in the early political machinations than I was interested in - and then later when things got down to the nitty gritty, I found that those machinations became quite Speilbergy in the negative sense of the word with things feeling more staged than believable.

Maybe that's just me. Maybe my lack of early engagement had something to do with watching on a computer rather than a big screen. Dunno.

There were some wonderful and powerful moments. Daniel Day-Lewis to me is impeccable and, between him and the director, a magnificent portrait is painted. Tommy Lee Jones I was less blown away by. If I had to pick a supporting actor to nominate out of this, it would not be him - but the Academy does go for the bluster sometimes. (Shades of Rene Zellweger's Oscar for Cold Mountain.)

So yeah. 7 is a respectable rating but I was surprised how far I found it from the critical hype.
