looked at this weeks schedule from yesterday to sunday....will watch 23 regular shows and 4 shows that run 1/2hour... remind you , its the slow season... during the busy time of year ill watch around 7-8 shows on sunday and the same on thursday :wah: ... not all of what i watch is american tv though (not that it helps my case of needing more hobbies any better  )

I'll tell you what movie Lincoln reminded me of was Thirteen Days (2000). That was another movie about behind-the-scenes political machinations. In that case, it was JFK finessing negotiations with the Soviets during the Cuban Missile Crisis with the world at the brink of nuclear war. I thought Thirteen Days was a better movie.

Now granted, Bruce Greenwood as JFK is not Daniel Day-Lewis as Abe Lincoln. But on the whole.

I would guess 3% accuracy and 97% fantasy in both.

I got a question here. I downloaded a movie to uTorrent and I can see it but there is no volume. Both my speakers and headphones are working fine so I'm wondering if there is some dopey newbie mistake that maybe I am making and forgetting something obvious to get sound with the movie. Or maybe I picked the wrong type of torrent? There were a whole bunch there and I don't know what's what with them so I just grabbed one that seemed to have a large number of downloads and reasonable comments.

Any thoughts?

Just FYI - you downloaded a movie via uTorrent. There's nothing special about the file/movie you downloaded - it's a regular old movie file. BitTorrent is just a transfer protocol.

Thanks for clearing that up Matty.

You know what annoys me? When people say they "deposited ON 5imes.com" as if they were making a deposit on top of something.

Zero Dark Thirty (2012) - The catchword for my quest to view the major Oscar nominees continue to be: disappointment.

I did not find Zero Dark Thirty to actually be bad - but just so inferior to the hype I have heard. A couple critics named it #1 movie of 2012 and it is a Best Picture nominee (albeit probably a dark horse, considering the absence of a Best Director nom).

I found it to be an overly long and overly detailed - tedious - procedural on a subject which, I admit, I do not find fascinating in any case. I felt like they could have covered everything which they spread out over ~2 hrs 15 mins (???) with one hour and a jaunty montage.

In deciding on my all-important ratings, what I often ask myself is, do I want to watch it again and how soon and how much through the rest of my life? The thought of seeing this again just puts my feet to sleep.

Some value but can't go any higher than 5.8 out of 10
