The black chick that they added to the cast of Westworld a couple episodes back - supposed to be a tough-ass rep of Delos or whatever.

Gotta say, not a great actress. Not up to the standard IMO.

Not hot enough to excuse it either.

Misstep in my book.

Sometimes I watch a movie and there is a sweet/cute young girl - and I can't help but think, 'I wonder how she turns out.'

As in, did things go very right a la Emma Watson - Alyssa Milano is an example that comes to my mind from my younger days - or did things go more awkward and horribly wrong.

Can't actually think of a great example of that at this second. Lots of males but females? Hmm. I'm sure there are lots and it will come to me. Leave it with me.

Anyway, sometimes the movie is already a few years old and an instant answer is available.

Ivana Baquero from Pan's Labyrinth ---> Ima say things went right.

My impression of The Young Pope after 3 episodes: it is placing a lot of chips in one basket, that basket being: omygawd, that pope is not what you would expect a pope to be like.

He is a shocking pope. Aggressively.

Which might sort of be okay, except for the inevitable and constant thought: someone like that would simply never get elected to the position. It is a constant distracting factor. I am watching a massive contrivance.

But if I can achieve suspension of disbelief on that issue, the show has some positive features. Writer/director Paolo Sorrentino really does have a strong artistic touch. I enjoyed his move Youth from last year a lot. Not everyone did - it was a polarizing thing - but it worked for me.

And I see frequent glimpses of what I liked about that in The Young Pope.

I will keep going with it.
