I had a not-small problem with something in the most recent episode - spoiler alert - just not really understanding how Thandie Newton's threats carry so much weight. Like if the guys are really scared that she is capable of hurting them in the moment - can't they just do whatever she says and then reverse it whenever they want, like 2 seconds later? They acted all scared like she had conspirators holding guns to their families or something.

Maybe I should start learning the character's names instead of just naming the actors. But anyway, that was a significant not-ringing-true bit for me.

And actually the behavior of the one super-bitch of a techy guy leading up to that did not seem organic either. I was a little too aware of writers trying to move things along. But that may be a quibble.

I noticed they were back to the 90's Radiohead on the player piano though.

Yeah I'm confused about her somehow having any power over the technicians. I guess they're low-level employees who need to refurbish her no matter what? But you'd think they would just escalate her case to someone who has the authority to stop her shenanigans. :clueless:

This is totally Lost all over again. Afraid that much of the nonsense will stay unresolved.

Glad it wasn't just me. Sometimes when I watch a show while eating dinner, I am not as focused - and I wondered if I missed something.

But yeah, everyone was acting like she had this huge shit-ton of leverage. Can't we just turn her off, disassemble her and use her parts for office furniture (or catfood or whatever she's made of?)

Didn't really like the scene with dudeguy peeing on the big model of Westworld either. The reactions seemed significantly less than they should be if there was suddenly urine raining down. Again, it felt conspicuously written.

So it seemed to me.

I have been seeing the HBO ads for, and was looking forward to watching, this, coming to my channels in early 2017 - however I have just learned the first few episodes are already out there having aired in Yerp. So let us proceed.

I just realized i know a guy in this show. An old slavic man, I grew up with his nephew. We called him Unc.

Just watched it. **Spoilers** I got a bit bogged down on some stuff with Maeve last week that felt like a negative to me. Still not sure if I am missing something in her arc. But damn, I did enjoy this episode a whole lot. The Dolores/William bit. The Maeve bit. Of course the big reveal.

I felt pretty sure that someone we thought was real would turn out to be a host. The thought it was Bernard had occurred to me - but then again I had considered it with basically everyone - so I can't go patting myself on the back for my predictive abilities.

Anyway it was a fascinating sequence with Bernard.

Still feeling like we have multiple timelines going even if I don't have a big justification to put forth. Just feels like it.

Yeah I'm totally on board with the multiple-timeline theory now. William IS a younger Ed Harris. If you watch ep. 2 again, when William and Logan arrive at the Westworld entrance or whatever, the Westworld logo is different, i.e. older than the one seen during the "office" scenes.

The Westworld William-as-Ed-Harris deal makes a lot of sense with the way things are going. William is throwing himself way into Dolores and I'm betting he's going to get his heart broken - which would explain Ed Harris' later anger towards her (childishly idiotic and misplaced though that would be). It would seem clumsy given how craftily they de-aged Anthony Hopkins, to have these two guys who don't really look alike end up being the same guy - but could be. Certainly there is nothing that has happened in the action - that seemed on the surface to dispel the theory - that can't be explained away with all the endless loops and natural narratives variations over time.
