Hm. It seems I have recorded the movie, In The Heart of the Sea.

Differing feedback from my two main movie sites. It is 7.0 at imdb - which is comfortably above average. 7.0 = good at imdb.

At Rotten Tomatoes it is rotten from both the critics and audience score. Comfortably rotten.

In a situation like this, I tend to believe RT.

My question is, how much should straight-up enjoyment of the watching of a movie factor into a rating?

What I mean is: I watched Suffragette recently and, while it was all very good in terms of cinematic values - I had a complete intellectual recognition of that - I was very bothered by the injustice depicted - to the point where I was even questioning for a short while if I wanted to keep watching. I was just feeling like, bleeccchhh.

It was odd because I think I was more bothered by the injustice in that than in many movies about slavery. I don't know what's up with that exactly. May have simply been an odd mood at that moment.

Whatever, the point is, the fact it was so good at doing what it was trying to do made me not enjoy watching it at times. I do not see a rewatch in my future.

So what does that mean for a rating?

(I landed at 7.1)
