Here's my complaint about the movie Minions.

Okay. You got the little yellow twinkie guise. Their whole premise is they are on the earth to support evil. They actually have a little thing right at the start of the movie showing them evolving from little yellow single-cell organisms for that purpose. They are henchmen for the despicable.

But - spoiler alert - in the end they foil evil and win the day on the side of the most conventional goody-goodness, and they're completely happy with it.

Just feels like a major cop-out to me. Maybe that's the gag and all the movies are the same - I don't know - I haven't seen them all - but I would like someone to go dark with it. Like even if you have to be so completely risk-free and have their evil master's plot foiled - because good has to triumph over evil every single time - at least have them stay true to their raison d'etre. Like maybe their boobery can lead to the failure. Some creative writing could build some laughs into that?

I don't know.
 
The Minions movie was just a distraction. The fucking things were created so they could be slapped onto any and every product available in supermarkets, so that when you go to the store with your toddler to get milk, you end up hauling home Minions yogurt, Minions cereal, Minions paper tissues and fucking Minions hand soap.

They totally knew what they were doing when they made them bright yellow.

I thought it had a few nice moments in it, done with style and elegance.

Like, we knew Arya was going to defeat her WWE rival, No-Name Chick (and let's just set aside the ridiculous level of mobility Arya had for someone who had recently had a bunch of holes punched in her) - but no, it was thoughtful how she used her recent experience of being blind - and they didn't need to show the blow-by-blow - just what they showed told the story ---> it was pretty good.

Blackfish creating a good death for himself - again, nicely stylishly handled.

The Jamie Lannister/Brienne of Tarth thing ---> I won't say it was done with subtlety exactly, but reasonably thoughtful.

Chicky-poo drinking wine with Tyrion ---> possibly the most adorable girl of all time.

The Hound remains a hoot.

I'm a professional grinder dude. Not ON Grinder (fuck them for choosing that name) but A grinder.

Dealer girl is much more than possibly getting laid to me. I bet she's an awesome player and if she's not interested a teammate to maybe hit the tourneys when I grind cash would be chill, the tourneys have a huge upside but I don'the have time for that shit. Also I'm so hawt for her it's not even funny. Her subtle game is so next level.

What aren't you getting laid?
