I finally got around to giving Avatar (2009) a second viewing.

I saw it on a big screen in 3D when it first came out - and I remember being pretty dazzled by the artistry of the world they created. I gave it a 9 rating.

But ever since then I have wondered, "But really, what about the story? The actual characters and dialogue and whatnot. Is that really a 9?" This rewatch was just on TV.

On review my answer is, it's a pretty damn solid yarn. Some moments of excessive obviousness - and I don't in principle like a lot of spiritual mumbo-jumbo - I don't like that shit encouraged. It was a bit puzzling in the big battle how the natives were suddenly using modern warfare weapons and communications. I don't know if I missed something how that came about. But it is a good inventive story with an over-riding message that I endorse.

And it is amazing technically.

ha. I actually watched that movie. At least for as long as anyone should have to. It was mildly amusing story with captivating scenery(?)
But then, after what seemed like two hours they start in with some bogus plot of genocide and betrayal :cop:I had to turn it off

Gave Citizen Kane (1941) a rewatch.

As much as I enjoy crapping on so-called classics that shouldn't be - particularly of yesteryear - Citizen Kane is a damn fine movie. It is good and thoughtful by today's standards, and compared to what was being produced in its time ---> beyond amazing.

8.7 out of 10.

Sort of spoiler alert for GoT. Taking-a-guess kinda spoiler.

What else do we need? The Knights of the Veil will fight with the Starks against the Boltons for Winterfell. Lord Bailish (?) is with them.

That letter Sansa was writing towards the end there for raven delivery ---> I'll betcha that was to Lord Bailish. I betcha the Knights of the Veil show up any minute and join the army to take Winterfell.

I betcha.

Just watched Ex Machina (2015) with Oscar Isaac playing a weird blend of Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Bryin and a cartoon mad scientist. Thought it was excellent. It's like an updated, dark version of Weird Science.

Even robot wimminz be schemin' and shit - Plommer was right about everything.
