A movie is being shot in a condo building next to us. Downsizing? It's got quite the cast, including Matt Damon and Christoph Waltz: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1389072/

They've been alternating between a green screen and a giant black box that are hoisted right in front of the condo unit they're using:

I see two HBO series being hyped these days, starting in the next few weeks.



Feed The Beast starring David Schwimmer and Jim Sturgess. Seems to be about a couple guys who open a restaurant - one's a chef the other's the business guy? - but they get in trouble with financing i.e. loan shark? That's the vibe I get.

I am not inclined to watch.



Preacher - the advertising is much more mysterious. No indication of much of anything from the commercials. No clips, no nothing. All mood and atmosphere. A quick check of imdb reveals that there is nothing in the way of star power.

Well you only have to wait about 1 minute into episode 1 for that.


Checked out Southpaw (2015)

It's good. Jake Gyllenhaal really is a great actor. Helluva body of work when you think about it.

His character in Southpaw has a little daughter who could not be more perfect.

It's manipulative and formulaic no doubt - but it generally worked for me.

7.2 out of 10.

I watched Deadpool (2016)

He is quite a weisenheimer and there are some laughs but it is just another Marvel superhero movie with all the tedious stuff. To their credit, they didn't go 2 and a half hours with it like so many of them. I believe it was about one-forty??

And the weisenheimer stuff helps. I guess Robert Downey Jr. does the weisenheimer thing but Deadpool does it even more.

I am WAY fed up with Marvel superhero movies. I like to laugh and I appreciate the economic running time - so I give this one a 6.3 rating - but I know that's lower than I gave to a bunch of other Marvel stuff which, if I ever watched it again, I know I would lower my ratings significantly.

But I won't watch them again. Whatever.

Such a weisenheimer, this guy
