The scuttlebutt on who will replace Daniel Craig has been ongoing for awhile.

The most recent betting favorite - to the point of being taken off the board for awhile - was Tom Hiddleston. I guess he had a meeting with some relevant players and that, combined with playing a spy in The Night Manager sent things goofy.

I have no inside information and don't really care who gets the job, so I will only say: I am watching The Night Manager and it's hard to imagine a spy with less charisma than Tom Hiddleston.

I think Daniel Craig just wants to do other stuff. He considers himself a real actor and wants to stretch his muscles. Feeling some burnout.

You look at his imdb page and it is dominated by being James Bond for about 10 years. Movies, video games - he was Bond in the opening ceremonies of the London Olympics.

Good for him, I say. Like in principle. Putting artistic considerations ahead of stacking cash.

That said, I have never been blown away by his amazing chops and wondered what he was capable of. He's respectable sometimes but I have also seen him be quite bad (Dream House). Pretty limited range from what I've seen. But maybe he'll show me something going forward.

Emily Ratajkowski (titty girl from the Blurred Lines vid): Model Discusses How Her Appearance Has Affected Her Life in Interview

"It's an interesting paradox. If you're a sexy actress it's hard to get serious roles,"

The only thing I would gently point out is that really sexy women have been getting serious roles since the beginning of film so you are completely full of shit and maybe you just suck at acting.

And while we're on the subject, Henry Cavill is another leading Bond candidate. I have just watched him in The Man From UNCLE and he is also surprisingly uncharismatic. I kind of remember him being pretty good in The Tudors but he was far from any kind of revelation as Napoleon Solo.

Better than Tom Hiddleston though.

All The Way (2016) - this is the new HBO biopic about President Lyndon Johnson from the time of the Kennedy assassination through winning the 1964 election, with a primary focus on his Civil Rights agenda.

It's very good. It's a bit of a procedural in how he worked the political machinery between party politics and MLK and J Edgar Hoover, but it's a very good character study and kind of inspiring and uplifting (if you believe that civil rights are a good thing.)

Brian Cranston is excellent and I imagine there will be Emmy nominations down the road. It's interesting because you hear that gooberish Texas drawl from a president and you can't help but think of the the dominant dipshit of our time, George W. Bush - but LBJ was a very different cat.

8.1 out of 10
