Stephen Colbert has become the best late-night talk show host. Which means his ratings are probably not good.

That interview with Rumsfeld got a little intense last night, didn't it bacon.

hey that wasn't bad, "unknown knowns" I guess thats where you have to go to seem relatively polite while ripping him a new asshole.
Personally I would call it "known knowns" and I think Colbert implied that when he said: I wouldn't wanna think govt would straight up deliberately lie.
Of course that is exactly what happened. These people are professionals, you think they don't know what any elementary school child should know? ...anyway well done

Yeah. Decent interview. I still don't like Colbert though. I gave him every chance I could when his show first started. Just can't get into it.

Same goes for Trevor Noah.

Took me a while to get into Colbert's new show. He's oddly flamboyant. Not a fan of his effete Jon Batiste sidekick, but Colbert's schtick has grown on me. Smart guy.

Yeah he tiptoed his way to that question with his "unknown knowns". That was probably the only way to get a semi-honest answer out of Rumsfeld, without risking having him walk off the set. I thought that was well played. Rumsfeld was agitated at times, I'm surprised the interview didn't go sideways.

I guess they tell the intelligence people(?) to come up with a theory that might fit what we're trying to do

So, I went further down the Hertzfeldt rabbit hole and watched It's Such a Beautiful Day, a 60 minute feature film he made in 2012, available on Netflix.

Holy shit, that is surely as intense as stick figure animation can theoretically get.

It's all about illness and aging and mortality and is a complete existential mindfuck. I can't exactly recommend it to anyone, but I'm pretty sure you've never seen anything like it.

Maybe watch it?

The most recent episode of Shameless was strong as hell. That scene with Fiona and Debs was, like, wow.

Kinda glad they got rid of the Joan Cusack character. I generally like Joan Cusack but that particular character was a little too comic bookish for me.

However they did leave the possibility of her coming back and I would bet she will at some point.

Started watching Outrageous Fortune (2005-2010) which is a bit like New Zealand's version of Shameless. Acting is a bit iffy at times but it's purty good otherwise. Recommendation from an Ozzie coworker. The wife is even more hooked than I am.
