I imagine I say this every year, but they should put all the animated shorts in a block and air it on HBO or whatever. Same with Live Action Shorts and Documentary Shorts.

Maybe I'm in the minority - probably - but the clips always make me curious and I would definitely check them out.

Yap.

And another thing . . .

I realize my comments about the Oscars are predominately negative - but here I go again.

Stop saying the alternate title of Birdman. First of all don't give it the dopey second title. It's annoying and pretentious: Birdman (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).

But just because it's there, doesn't mean you have to say it every single time. Or so I hereby decree.

I wonder if they were this insistent with Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.

Just say Birdman.

In retrospect, I really didn't like Neil Patrick Harris. I'm remembering about 5 things he did that landed with a clunk.

I knew we were in serious trouble when he said the next presenter looked so good that you could eat her with her spoon. And then he did a creepy aren't-I-precious? grin. And then he announced Reese Witherspoon.

Get it? Because spoon is in her name?

:fok:

A lot of activism last night. Alzheimers awareness. ALS. Equal pay for women. Racial issues. Immigration.

A few times I was expecting some booing - reminiscent of Michael Moore - but I didn't hear any. Even when someone started talking about Edward Snowden as a hero - which is far from a black and white issue - I was listening for signs of dissent but didn't hear any.

I wish I knew what you guys are talking about. Sounds awful. Lady Gaga is kinda impressive though.
Remember when she played Poker Face standing on the piano bench with her ass in the air...

ok, I tried to find the clip and there's a lot of em that kinda suck:sparesomecutter: More raggedy and less classy than I remembered. There probably is that good one though :dunno:

Thought it was interesting when Jesus blessed Patricia Arquette during her acceptance speech tho.

Meanwhile I hear there was some outrage from the outrage people who got outraged.

They did not like when Sean Penn jokingly said, when he was announcing the Best Picture Oscar, "Who gave this son-of-a-bitch a green card?" regarding Innaritu, the Mexican director of Birdman.

I myself am not outraged - I just find it a really awkward attempt at, I dunno, folksy, joshing-around humor or whatever.

Sean Penn just needs to refrain from showing any personality at all times.

Just read stuff and act and that's it.

Dude has a bad personality.
