I do love the movie All The President's Men (1976) tho. Just finished a rewatch. 8.4 out of 10.

Thing about it is, for me, it would be just as good if it was shot with the little Canon camera I keep in the drawer here. The visual side of it is of the most minor relevance.

It's all about the ideas.

I had it in my head that Titanic (1997) had more elegant storytelling but no, the set-up is very broad and obvious and clumsy. Reminiscent of Spielberg at his most people-pleasing.

The acting was also surprisingly weak. Kate Winslet and Dicaprio have both come a long way.

The effects too ---> not-quite-there. There were bits where I felt like I was watching a cartoon, the CGI was so obvious.

But it was the better part of 20 years ago so I can't be too harsh. I know the effects were incredible for the time.

Whatever, somehow, when all is said and done, for all the cliche and caricature, it packs a punch.

7 out of 10
