I watched the first episode of The Affair. It was subtle and puzzling enough to keep me watching for another episode. I also generally like the stars with McNutty and crazy Alice from Luther.

Actually I am understating that. I have quite a fascination with Ruth Wilson (who was Alice in Luther and is Alison in this).

Looks like they're going the Rashomon route, stressing how situations can be perceived differently by different observers. That has limited appeal for me and the whole thing could easily fall apart but, as I say, I will watch and at least see what happens next.

Tron's anti-Blacklist opinion could be he sees this transformation in his future ........

How is it in the eye roll department?

Yeah, tough to answer. It (The Affair) was well done for the most part. Some subtle but astute observations of human nature. Some thoughtful scenes.

But it appears that the big thing is going to be the Rashomon effect. That, in itself can be a big eye roll for me. I understand fully that people will have different perceptions of the same event, but those need to have some subtlety to be plausible IMO. If they are too radical, it becomes stupid to me. It becomes writers saying, "Hey! Look at me doing tricks here!"

I don't like that.

The one wildcard would be if one of the characters is actually insane to some degree. That gives more leeway for delusion. It's very possible that's where we're going and that could be good.

So I will carry on.

We had seen bits and pieces of Snatch throughout the years since it was on TV so many times but never really sat down to watch it.

We did, fun flick but I don't see a rewatch happening. It does keep you watching though, i mean if you're us.

Snatch is endlessly rewatchable. I've seen it at least 10 times.

bacon you're too sophisticated for this shit

I'd watch it again!! I love an action packed film, and there were quite a few laughs in there too!

I also watched The Giver, I really liked that movie. I thought how they used black and white, and dull and vibrate shades of color, and of course music, to help express the story was beautiful. The whole utopian concept, and one different person breaking free has been written about and filmed many times, but I truly enjoyed how they went about it this time. It was like Divergent meets Pleasantville.
