I'm on the 8th season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I wasn't a hugh fan of the first two or three seasons but the show got a lot better when Danny DeVito came on board.

I've been watching this show for the past 2 months and it's been a part of my life and I'm sad that there's not much left. I'm thinking about staggering the rest of the episodes throughout the spring/summer.

I have heard some Movies and TV news. First I will post my reaction. I will post the actual news later.

My reaction:

What the fuck? Are you serious? That can't be right.

There must be some mistake.

But okay, let me take a deep breath and gather my thoughts . . .

It could be alright. The source material was obviously outstanding and there are some respectable names involved. I should probably be very excited but that's not the case. Just feeling kinda trepidatious tbh.

I guess I just need to wait with an open mind and judge it on merit.

But seriously?

The news I was reacting to: there is an upcoming Fargo TV series based on the Coen Brothers' movie which sits in Mudcat's all-time top 10.

Why would that not be good news? I like a good TV show. Why is my first reaction, "Oh shit, you shouldn't be doing that."

We'll see.

I see the names Billy Bob Thornton and Bob Odenkirk. Like them both very much. I see a few other names I recognize that don't make me barf.

Dunno. Coen Brothers are Executive Producers which could mean a lot or very little. The writer hasn't done anything I recognize. He wrote the TV show Bones, I see. Pretty weak reference in my book.

On further investigation I see it is 10 episode limited series.

Well I dunno. I will definitely be watching. Coming up pretty soon. April 15th on FX.

That's what it looks like to me.

Production

In 2012, it was announced that FX was developing a new television series based on the Academy Award-winning film Fargo with the Coen brothers as executive producers.[4] It was later announced that adaptation would be a 10-episode limited series.[5] On August 2, 2013, it was announced that Billy Bob Thornton had signed on to star in the series. On September 27, 2013, Martin Freeman also signed on to star.[6] On October 3, 2013, it was announced that Colin Hanks would be cast in the role of Duluth Police Deputy Gus Grimly.[7] Production began in the fall of 2013 with filming taking place in and around Calgary, Alberta.[8]

Some of my favorite episodes (not sure if these are the titles but this how I remember them):

Green Man (they do acid at a sporting event or something)
Dee's Retarded Boyfriend episode
The Nightman (probably my all time favorite)

This movie Noah is coming out and I am hearing some semi-promising things.

It's based on the story from Exodus of the Old Testament, however it sounds like it's not too Bible-ie. I hear Glen Beck is upset about it which is a good sign.

His issue is they never use the word god and only talk about the creator. Good by me. I'm sure I'm over-simplifying his complaint and I am okay with that. Liberties are taken. Whatever.

I get the vibe you can take it as a straight-up fantasy movie and not worry too much that some people actually believe it's supposed to be a true story. Looks well produced. Being a Darren Aranofsky film, it is deep into the character study of it. That can work or not. The reviews I have seen are favorable.

Prolly won't run out to the theatre for it but Aranofsky has done some interesting stuff and I am curious.

I am worried that the guy writing the Fargo TV series wrote Bones. I have seen Bones. It is a not a kind of writing that I want. It is a very networky kind of writing where it's like, "Look how delightfully quirky I am being. See how off-beat and brimming with idiosyncratic personality all my characters are? See how I am beating you over the head with the zaniness?"

I dunno. Maybe the dude has a little more finesse within him which will be unleashed with this project. Hope so.
