Wes Anderson always feels like a wannabe Coen Brother to me. Tries hard but not quite there. Never as good as his ardent fans insist he is.

Matter of taste of course.

As for Grand Budapest Hotel, I have seen a couple rave reviews from regular critics. Mind you, I could say the same about Moonrise Kingdom which was, you know, cute and everything ---> but come on.

Well, I have a lot more respect for the Coen Brothers' body of work, but I wouldn't describe W.A. as a wannabe Coen Brother. Feels like he's doing something pretty different to me.

I loved Moonrise Kingdom, but I definitely have a weakness for that sort of thing.

I have Girls rated 4.9 out of 10 with the book closed. Sons of Anarchy sits at 4.93 at this second but could change.

I actually liked Moonrise Kingdom alright. I thought it started out very well but took some ill-advised turns towards the end. Still, I got it rated 7 which is very respectable. People were trying to hype it with Oscar talk which was an eye-roller to me but it's okay.

I watched the premier of a new series, Doll and Em the other day. I guess it would be categorized as a thoughtful comedy.

I found it to have no laughs - perhaps a few wry half-smiles - and it was only moderately thoughtful. Probably more appealing to chicks.

It did not have the immediate turn-off effect of, say, Hello Ladies - I will probably take a gander at episode 2 just to confirm there is nothing going on.

But it's obvious where the smart money is going re my lasting out the season.
