Also, show doesn't oversimplify issues or treat them in cliched ways. But it also manages to not over complicate things to ridiculous levels that don't wash and then leave unresolved.
Ok, I'm not buying Ray's break up with Marnie, but thats one of the rare times.
In general show actually makes me feel good about life. and young people. Not many shows I can say that about.

Yeah, okay. That is some useful clarification as it is not how I took your original comment and I thought maybe you had gone loopy.

I would attach a slightly different interpretation to some of what you say but it's not terribly important. It's a show that has some positive stuff in it (I would hope so; I've watched 2.5 seasons of it), and you bring up some good examples.

Seems like Cosmos got good ratings. Number 10 for the week - and in a very difficult Sunday night timeslot.

There are a bunch of numbers being thrown around. I think there was a time I had some idea how to interpret and compare television ratings. Now I don't have a clue. So many freaking channels and re-airings of stuff and worldwide considerations. Cosmos was actually on several channels so I don't know how they're figuring what.

But the things I am looking at has it number 10 and that seems pretty good to me.

Nice to see something really good being rewarded.

Guess I have to give respect to Seth MacFarlane. Freaking charmed life living bastard.

Blue Jasmine (2013) - Well, Cate Blanchett is a great actress. I knew that and didn't really need it confirmed but she won the Oscar so I figured I should have a look. She's right there with Meryl Streep and Daniel Day-Lewis and Joaquin Phoenix. Top of the game.

She just completely disappears in a role which is not simple. The movie itself is not bad. Avoid Woody Allen movies, is a lesson that has been drilled into my head over several decades. But this one is okay. It is admirably well edited. In this era where so many filmmakers drag things over 2 hours with no need whatsoever - even superhero movies and shit like that - this comes in at a tidy and proper 98 minutes. Everything is neatly explained but there is nothing wasted in the telling.

Sally Hawkins ---> very good. Andrew Dice Clay --> a few pretty strong scenes. Where did that come from? :dunno:

And it's an okay movie. Interesting study of characters and relationships in unusual circumstances. I mean, it doesn't blow me away or anything. I can't see myself ever rewatching it. The soundtrack is kinda useless. It's hard to imagine someone with less imagination than Woody Allen when it comes to music. But whatever, thumbs up.

Fox is a weird mish-mash. Fox News is one thing with its sickening religious agenda. But then it has shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons which have been satirizing religion and being recreationally immoral for a long time.

There was a very funny scene in the most recent Family Guy where Peter gives god noogies - and god freaks out.

Why? Turns out, god is slightly autistic. Doesn't like his head being touched.

Who knew?

Really enjoying Cosmos myself.
