I kinda liked the first 2 episodes of Girls. The end of last season, I was hanging by a thread with every episode deciding if I would keep watching but I feel like I am now comfortably committed for the indeterminate future. I don't know if it changed or my attitude changed but that's the deal.

Unless they really fuck things up.

Shameless - same deal. It's not an all-timer for me but it's not week-by-week like it once was. It's on the roster.

Couple of 6 out of 10 kind of shows. That's okay. They can't all be 9's.

True Detective looking like a 9+ so far.

60 Minutes - fuck Alex Rodriguez. Fuck that guy.

The Simpsons - just a sad shadow of what it once was but it's a habit like cigarettes.

Family Guy - It's okay. Has its moments.

Meh. Kyra Zagorsky is VERY easy on the eyes but there are a lot of silly moments (like the way the virus is passed on).

The acting has a Falling Skies vibe (not a compliment).

Insurance commercials have in large part improved over the years, still a lot of shitty ones but Geico and All State deliver here and there

Checked this out last night pretty bad ass. I agree with the critics in that it loses its way a little between autobiography and drama, definitely worth a watch though; very dark but enough crazy shit going on to keep you watching. Off the charts performance by Boardwalk Empire favorite Shannon and Goodfellas classic Ray Liotta still packs quite a punch. I had a little bit of a tough time buying David Schwimmer as a bad ass mobster but he wasn't all that bad. It's just you hear that voice and you're ready for Joey and Chandler Bing to walk through the door with a monkey.

It certainly didn't go into much depth on the murders that took place, mostly focused on him and his family, kind of like the sopranos, you see a bit of the crime, and a bit of the family, and then it all falls apart. All in all though I thought it was a very well done movie. I give it 8.8 Camistars.

Out of the Furnace (2013) - It's the other Christian Bale movie. And who knew Woody Harrelson could play an inbred hick?

No but seriously man, what this movie showed me was how good a not-all-that-good movie can be. I had some problems with the script. I won't get into detail because I don't want to spoil - but despite my issues with that, the movie was so well done. Great cast, great direction.

I think it's the times we live in. Wonderful time for fans of cinema realism. Films have less and less reliance on tricks and people-pleasing contrivances. I love it. As I suggested, the script left me cold here, but it was still a very enjoyable watch just because of the general presentation.
