Guy's been in a shitton of unremarkable crowd-pleasers. Hard to pick just one Honks movie.

Taking Forrest Gump out of the equation, The Terminal was pretty good.
Eggsicely.

Speilberg and funny? Sure why not we'll try The Terminal. The Green Mile followed by Castaway I guess. You have to respect Saving Private Ryan but shit does it get more morbid.

Cami has been a HUGH Turner and Hooch fan going on 25 years now posters everywhere, it's kind of strange; harmless enough though.

Not really a Honks fan I guess. Kind of a not really wanting to watch too much admiration.

The Bachelor Party have I seen that shit? Something is telling me it's legendary and I have.

Fok Forrest Gump fok that guy Pulp should have won that easily.

I'll tell you what I DID NOT like that he was in: The Polar Express.

I kept seeing it on people's top holiday favorites lists last month and I was about ready to headbutt someone into next week.

FOK did I find that to be a big smouldering pile of poorly drawn shit.

Here's what I have never seen that it seems like everyone else has: Splash.

My folks were on a Hanks kick when I was growing up, Big and Splash I remember seeing as a child. Big was funny, splash was alright from what I remember. The big thing was Hannah was so hot, then she's a mermaid (insert stupid laugh about something that was considered techy and cool back around that time).

Fok cartoon movies. Fok them right in their animated faces.

All is Lost (2013) - probably most notable for the mileage it was getting for Robert Redford during award season. However no nom when the Oscar slate was announced today so never mind.

It's okay for the most part. It is a one man tour-de-force kind of deal - nothing but Robert Redford - virtually no speaking. Just Robert Redford alone, in peril, at sea for an hour and fortyish.

I HATED the ending. It's one of those purposely ambiguous endings that artsy fartsy people love so much where you don't know what happened. There is no way to tell. Guess if you want. Doesn't matter. There is no answer.

Isn't that wonderful?

I give it a 6 out of 10. If not for the ending it might have been high enough - like 6.6 - to round up to 7 - but the ending just sucked. So 6.0 exactly.

As for the work by Redford who really was my first favorite movie star, it is very good for the most part. The nature of the character is not much emoting. The nature of the script is only a few lines of dialogue right at the very start where he is voice-overing a letter he is writing. Oddly, I found that speaking quite bad. It was weirdly, unnaturally delivered, I thought. I have to think they did it the way they did on purpose - but it didn't work for me. Don't know what to make of it.

Anyway very good job overall, old fella.

I also read after the fact some very convincing testimony about how retarded the situation was. I didn't know while I was watching but apparently some of the actions and omissions on the part of an experienced sailor were unforgivable for people with a clue. One of several comparisons that could be made to Gravity. But I didn't know while I was watching so I'll stick with 6.0

Well, Tom Hanks had two roles late in the year considered realistic nominaion candidates but no love for him either (and I agree with that. I like the guy but those performances were just not good enough IMO.)

Neither was Emma Thompson nominated, who was getting all kinds of buzz and attention (and deserved absolutely nothing for that performance IMO).

Lee Daniels' The Butler shut out completely including Oprah whom I like very much as a person but . . .

Agreeance from me on all that.

Alright I'll confess we watched a good portion of Idol last night. Only because we had it Tivo'd from previous seasons, I swear. It has improved now that that thing that calls itself Nicki Minaj :tully: is out, "it" made the show 100% unwatchable and Harry Connick Jr. is a pretty funny dude, you can tell they are trying to make him into a cool version of Simon as the mean guy. J-Lo now appears sober which is boring.

That being said I don't think we will be back. It was barely watchable with Simon and then Randy, I don't see it as doable without either.
