Mother came to visit last week and gave me the first two seasons of Homeland on DVD.

I'm 3 episodes in and liking it very much.

I had a "free Showtime weekend" and was working my way through season 1. It was pretty good. It almost made me want to subscribe to Showtime...but I'm cheap.

Take This Waltz - Such a good movie marred by the overly fucking annoying characters played by Seth Rogan and Michelle Williams.

But the movie is solid. If you can get past those two.

It's hard to know how to take this comment since those two are basically the whole movie. If you are being biting and sarcastic, that is some pretty inside stuff given how few people saw it.

I bet you just wanted to see Sarah Silverman's beav, didn't you?

No I actually enjoyed the entire premise and ending so much I watched it twice, since I knew that there were going to be scenes between those two that really irked me. I don't mind either two as an actor, I just wish their characters didn't royally agitate me.

But yeah...I know it doesn't make much sense.

Rewatched Toxic Avenger recently. Now that is some seriously impressive film making.

No I kinda getcha. There is a lot to talk about that comes out of it. I remember having a LONG in-depth discussion with Jenny about it and she didn't even see it. I just started outlining what happened and we were off to the races.

No but seriously man, what is with the Academy stroking on Warren Beatty?

They gave him the Thalberg award in 1999. Warren Beatty? It's a lifetime achievement award for Creative producers, whose bodies of work reflect a consistently high quality of motion picture production

It's a big deal, that award. They don't give it every year; it is for when something undeniable MUST be acknowledged. The list of winners is populated by all-time legends of the industry from Cecil B. DeMille and Samuel Goldwyn to Hitchcock and Spielberg and Clint Eastwood.

Warren Beatty? :dunno:

Mediocre actor. He produced, what, about 8 movies that anyone would have heard of if you count Heaven Can Wait and Ishtar and Bulworth. Never connected to a Best Picture. A couple or 3 nominees I guess. That gets you a lifetime achievement award? The fuck?

Seriously, does anyone here give a fuck about Warren Beatty?

I guess the highlights are supposed to be Reds, and Bonnie and Clyde, and Bugsy. The public does not seem all wet over Reds and Bugsy like the Academy but whatever. No Best Pic winners in the bunch anyway.

Let's not forget Dick Tracy. Shampoo?

So that gets you a lifetime achievement award beside Cecil B. DeMille and his 80 directing credits and 88 producing credits?

He's a peer of Steven Spielberg?

No sir, I don't like it.
