An observation after rewatching ~1.3 seasons of Six Feet Under.

I remember being seriously hot for Brenda the first time around. This time, not really.

its was her care free, ill fuck anything at anytime and in any way that allowed her to grow on me... not really attracted to anything else to do with her...

Yep. The intrigue is mostly in her dirty nature. But dirty nature gets a little old.

That was not my thing for her. I am attracted to really brilliant, complicated women and if they happen to be troubled/damaged, so much the more intriguing. Brenda seemed to have that in spades. That was my initial perception.

What I noticed this time around is that, while people talk about Brenda that way a lot, there is not a ton of evidence in her behavior. I mean, yes, she is damaged - and while the cause of that is unusual, it does not manifest itself in a particularly unique, original way. She just comes off like any other human with mommy/daddy issues.

As for brilliance, she never shows any more insight than anyone else. In any discussions/fights/whatever, she and Nate come off basically as equals - and no one is pretending Nate is some guru.

Ruth is great. She has become a major focus for me. I kinda get how she can be hilarious but often it is the opposite; it's the quiet, authentic moments of sadness that make me think of my mum and she grabs my intestines and whips them out on my lap. Frances Conroy is incredible in that.

I do not like Rico. The character serves a purpose but I guess it's the actor. I have seen him in a few things and he never works for me.

One of those things. :dunno:

She does a good snap, that's for sure.

I am currently at the point in season 3 where there is a developing Harold and Maude thing between her and Rain Wilson. (Okay obviously not the same age difference but that's how I keep thinking of it anyway). I can't rightly remember where it goes.

Really enjoying this revisiting of SFU.

I know something very unusual will soon happen around the Lisa character - and I don't think I will mind.

Off in a different direction. I am captivated by this actress, Ruth Wilson.

She has a look. From the first time I laid eyes on her in that piss-poor re-imagining of The Prisoner, I was like - wow. She has a look. I started watching Luther where of course she has that look - even moreso if possible - and it seems like she is a very good actress too. But something about that look . . .

What an eyeroller of an episode of The Newsroom this week. If there was a new episode next week, no way I would watch. I would ditch the stupid show for good right now. But because it was the season finale and there will now be a hiatus, there is probably a 50/50 chance that when a new episode comes along, the sins of the past will have faded to fog and I will check it out.

50/50. Maybe/maybe not.
