So earlier I watched something that I had taped. It was called The Jim Rome Show (or something very like that). The listings described it as a Season Premier.

I was not sure what to expect. I was thinking it might just be a telecast of his radio show - which I have listened to before. It's not my favorite thing of all time but radio sucks so much, it is better than most sports radio. I thought it might be suitable to watch while eating some eggs.

But it was not the radio show. It was a TV presentation with a studio audience. But it was not like PTI or something where you get discussion of up-to-date things. Rome was making comments/jokes about Lance Armstrong going on Oprah, and Oscar Pistorius and Tiger Woods cheating on his wife.

It was pretty bad. I know Ice Cube was supposed to be on later as a guest but I didn't stick around. I guess in the absence of current events being discussed, his personality is supposed to be the attraction? The comedy writing?

Yeah. No.

Here's a question for anyone who cares to comment: do I need to see The Breakfast Club?

It's one of those movies that gets referenced all the time so I guess I should see it so I can be in on the discussion, but is it worth it just as a movie?

On a similar note, I've been hyping this new girl I'm seeing to come over and watch Girls with me from the beginning. Horrible idea. I forgot how std focused those first few episodes are. I had convinces her to let me 'just put the bare tip'in earlier in the day, although she seemed uneasy about. She had a perplexed look on her face while watching show. Pretty obvious what we were both thinking about. Haven't heard from her since.

We were getting along great while watching Walking Dead. The decision to switch series to Girls was a horrific audible made on my part.

:reallymad:

So... This other girl I'm seeing (flyers girl) got upset with me tonight, for finishing on her stomach. She was like, "Didn't you see the latest Girls episode!?" "That is degrading and gross.."

WTF. You had no problem with me finishing on you and in your mouth before that fokin episode aired. Plus those have been my signature moves for the last 9 years!

GIRLS is cock blocking me like no other!!!

Blittster when you gonna find a woman that can think for herself??

So I did watch The Breakfast Club (1985). It was worth it. There are a few problems but 7 out of 10.

Unbeknownst to me, the presentation I taped had pop-ups all through it. Little notes/trivia/factoids. For many (most?) movies that would have been extremely annoying and possibly intolerable. For some reason it worked perfectly with this though.

It's possible I had seen it before. It's been almost 30 years since it was released. Some things seemed familiar but it is so oft-referenced, it should be familiar regardless. Dunno.

Seems that Judd Nelson stayed in character the whole time they were filming. What a dickish experience that must have been.

There was a scene where Emilio Estevez went in some AV room or something and lets out a yell - and the glass door shatters.

'Well that was ridiculous,' I thought.

And then there was immediately a pop-up saying how John Hughes in hindsight considered that scene a huge mistake and considers it really BAD.

I liked the pop-ups with this.

The Big Chill (1983) - Through no particular plan, I have been revisiting this era lately. "The Jobeth Williams" era, if you will.

I like The Big Chill. Lawrence Kasdan made a few really respectable movies in his heyday. Writing/directing. Seems like he kinda stopped trying at some point and hasn't done anything of note for quite a while. Don't know why. He is not that old even now and was 20 years less old, 20 years ago when he apparently went into semi-retirement. :dunno:

The Big Chill, I rate 7.6 out of 10.
