Good Night and Good Luck (2005) - As a fan of the movies, George Clooney is the greatest thing since sliced bread. His acting is fine but as a director and producer and writer, he is a driving creative force behind so much top notch material.

He directed and co-wrote this one which is an extremely intelligent, well-acted, well-told recounting of the clash between Edward R. Murrow and Joe McCarthy. It is an interesting and still-relevant historical event - and it also gets into criticism of the direction of media and the larger issues behind that. INTELLIGENT! - I like that.

Solid 8 out of 10.

I forgot about that one Muddy we'll have to watch it.

This is 40 Screaming little girls and bad Humor, shut it off quick. That's 2 bad scripts and counting Rudd. Rating - Not Applicable.

Identity Thief - I do not like Melissa McCarthy very much but Jason Bateman can pretty much carry any comedy without even trying. I consider him one of the better comedic actors in our generation and he carried this thing from beginning to end. They actually played off of eachother pretty well. 7/10 Stevies.

Just saw Taken 2! Not as good as Taken and you kinda know how it's going to end but nice to see Liam kicking some ass!

LOL at this part of a review I just read .......

"Bullets dont slide off him but never hit him either. He dispatches tons of bad guys with any tool necessary -- gun, chain, a hard stare -- that by the time we reach the end, you will believe that he can kill with the touch of his hand. You will believe he can kill wolves with broken beer bottles, without pulling out his lightsaber.

And when you start believing that, consider yourself a member of the cult of Badass Liam."

Count me in as a member! OK, Taken 2 might have been little over the top! We still luv you Liam!

AI Artificial Intelligence (2001) - Decided to give this another look after 12 years.

My vague memory was that there was something that didn't quite work with it - and that proved to be the case. There are a bunch of interesting philosophical questions raised but they are somewhat copped out on in favor of grand Spielbergian dumbed-down, people-pleasing contrivances. It's not horrible by any means; it has more originality and eye candy than most; there is stuff to think about; but the pieces just don't quite fit for me.

(Only thing I would add is that Haley Joel Osment got an Oscar nomination for The Sixth Sense but this was a vastly superior performance for him.) (I still wouldn't nominate it for anything but I'm just saying.)

6.7 out of 10

It appears to be the sequel, Porno, although he calls it Trainspotting 2. Maybe Porno isn't a viable title for a mainstream movie ??

I read Porno awhile back. It was pretty good. Not nearly as good as Trainspotting but I would be very curious to see what they do with it. It's a shame we have to wait until 2016.

Lukewarm reviews for Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz The Great and Powerful, so far.

Yeah, I was disappointed when I read the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

I'm hoping its a case of high expectations. The film obviously has a lot to live up to.

I make take my little ones to see it, nonetheless. But I hope they don't get scared during the witch parts ( they're only 5 and 6).
