Well so, something happened. I got shipped off permanently to a different position. It happens to be a different building but that doesn't mean much since both buildings are combining when the whole shooting match moves to the new facility early 2017.

So now I'm a forklift driver. Counterbalance to be exact. "Loader" is my title.

If anything it's considered a bit of a promotion, but to be honest I liked what I was doing before better. I liked the exercise I was getting. Now I just sit on my butt all day. Like all day. I don't get off that machine much at all. But I guess I need to give it time.

Time to start putting in some Saturdays, I reckon. We are expected to work a number of them as well as stat holidays. Not sure exactly how many are required - but I haven't done any yet.

Feel like I should do more than I need to rather than the minimum.

So I figger I'll sign up for a few Saturdays in a row as well as the stat in August. Get that shit rolling. Sigh.

Not that it is a total hardship. That shit pays pretty damn well.

Ridiculously bad day at work yesterday. Had a full-blown case of the stupids.

It's weird to go from working where you're the guy who knows everything and does everything and is on top of everything - and you have been for years.

To being dorky stupid new guy who makes the most idiotic mistakes that create unnecessary work for guise.

I hope today is a new day.

I don't think I have ever seen a workplace less friendly towards smokers than my current one.

You go in. You get one 1-hour break mid-shift. You go home at the end, 8.5 hours after you started. You sure as hell don't slip out anytime.

I used to smoke and that would have been a form a hell for me. No doubt smokers have become a lot more accepting of restrictions than I did back in my day (I quit in 1991). But still ---> hell.

I am not aware of any designated smoking areas at any time. I have never seen anybody smoking there, breaks or whenever. In your car, I guess.

I'm not criticizing either. My last job where certain folks routinely took four, five, six ~10-minute breaks spread through the day. Come on. I mean there is something to be said for being casual - but how about fairness?

Working tomorrow of all things. Sunday. Ridiculous starting time too. 8 o'clock. My regular start is 11.

Gotta get up 3 hours early.

They are actually introducing a new Sunday-to-Thursday shift where you work 8-4 Sunday and then 11-7:30 the rest.

I doubt I would go for it in any case but just because of the jerky hours alone - definitely no thanx.
